Want to lose 10stone.

Didn'T realise you got shot in the army. Did you edit the thread after i read it or didn't i read ? I'm hoping to join the rifles and progress to first battalion and do my all arms commando. sorry for my stupid comment i thought you was some kind of basement dwelling fat ****.

sorry for your stupid comment buy you just made another one

seriously bad attitude

good luck OP and others who are putting in the hard work. id definitely recommend cycling when/if you can manage it. fresh air makes it so much more enjoyable than an exercise bike

Ok no problem. It was mentioned at the beginning but it's not important. Just remember that people are overweight for loads of reasons and not only because they are lazy.

Good luck with the Rifles. I was a RM Commando myself.

i thaught he was some idiot whod done nothing with his life now i know the reason why i really cant see him having any trouble loosing 10 stone.

So you instantly think everyone who is overweight is lazy and does nothing with their lives?

Ive always been taught from a early age that if you want to be the right weight you can be. Just because i made a stupid comment not knowing the circumstances there's no need to keep asking me baited questions. if you look at what i usually post i never try to explain myself but me and everyone i know have maximum respect for the armed forces and the royal marines (well apart from someone i know in the paras xD) .I'm not going to reply to you or anyone else's dribble.I hope this guy comes on here in 12 months and has lost all 10 stone and ill do anything i can to help him. You are a idiot for trying to bait his thread off topic.

On another note if you dont want to go to the pool with lots of people there go in the morning. All the pools around here open about 5:30 - 6 and theres about 4 regular people there. Men are too concerned about how big there wang looks in there speedos and women are too concerd about getting there hair wet. Myself im more concernd when i go on why my dad whos 21 years older than me seems to be like aqua man compared to me.

Yeah Radox seems to have a major attitude problem and doesn't know when to shut up.

On topic looks like it's all going well so far Castiel and co. 6lbs is a great start, and now you see how easy it is after that initial step you can keep going with it, I myself was the same before I got off my ass, mine was down partly to laziness and partly due without guidance and I know how hard it is to make that first step to getting the weight off, but once it starts it's really easy, because your confidence is greatly increased, you know it's going to work and you can keep going with it, don't feel dis-heartened when it slows down, it happens to everyone, but it shouldn't be the case for quite a while considering the amount of weight you want to lose, for me when I started at 16.7st I never had any problems until around the 13st mark, just needed a bit of a tweak to my diet, I'm sure people will help you out of the plateau here too, lots of different methods to get through it.

Ok people, lets all take a step back. I accept Radox's apology and hopefully he will think before he posts in future. However the thread is about weight loss and how to do it successfully rather than the reasons why obesity exists.

I appreciate all the help I am receiving and the encouragement you are giving also. Keep it coming, and I will share all my experiences as I move along the path to fitness once again :)

I normally troll people on here for there stupidness eg. aedus asking for a lamp that was a monitor on its side with a picture on. There all jumping on the bandwagon trying to get there own back when really its not the time or the place. If your planning on getting into biking and getting a racer id suggest buying one in winter as there very expensive now. Are you able to start walking and building up distance ? if you can start walking and the progress to about a mile start trying to run ? Why dont you set yourself a goal to do the Royal marines 3 mile selection run ? or another one of the fitness tests you had to do. *not reccomending the yomp* :)

I've got some way to go before I can attempt even the entry runout or even the recruitment test, but my first real goal is reduce my weight to a safer level for Cycling and Running.

Currently I am using a multi-gym and an exercise bike for light exercise. I am seriously considering swimming, although I have some issues with my scars and weight. Maybe if I can wear a t-shirt in the local baths, I don't know.

Why care about what other people think. Ive noticed people tend to go home at night and concentrate on how they looked or what they did not what other people looked like. People are there to swim not to look at people. If your worried about getting in and out of the pool untill you have built your upper body strength back up there are lifts in most pools.

You've obviously never been in the situation that he's in, it IS embarrassing, and I can tell you first hand. You can try and tell yourself about not wanting to care what anyone else thinks, but you just have the feeling everyone will be judging you on purely how you look and it's overwhelming. Lots of people feel the same way when they're ashamed of how they look.

What I'll suggest to you though Castiel is to go with someone, your gf or another mate, just get them to tag along with you and it really does help the anxiety about revealing yourself so much, so long as you have some form of support there it is much better than going alone, and I'm sure people will be willing to help you out with it, just ask them. Don't go with a shirt on, just go with a pair of shorts like everyone else, wearing a shirt will make you stand out more, looking segregated from everyone else at the pool and it really won't help you get over the anxiety of exposing your body compared to if you just suck it up, and jump in. Maybe leave it a few weeks and see how you feel, but taking someone with you will be a great help. Think about it as doing it for yourself and just doing it for the greater good, don't let people around you hold you back because you're worried.

I do belive the NHS have pools if you still dont want to go to a local pool yet. My grandad used them when he had a knee operation and the local pools were too cold. maby worth a enquiry.

Trolling in GD is generally par for the course and people know it ;).

Sports Arena is a whole different environment. People are coming here and admitting that they are overweight in public and asking for help. That is really not an easy thing to do. Posting pictures especially the starting pic takes a lot of guts as you are putting yourself out there and open to public humiliation. Most people recognise the courage these people are showing by putting it all out there regardless of how things got to their current state and the fact that making it public may help others. This is why there is a lot of help, support and encouragement here and almost never ridicule.

GD has enough ridicule for the whole site :D.

Radox,

Do you have a program you are doing at the moment to get you in to shape / better shape for selection ?. Hows your diet. Lots of people I think would be interested especially if they are looking to go the same route as you career wise. A number of members here have served and can probably offer loads of great advice. Maybe another thread would be good rather than in Castiels though :D.

Castiel,

Understand about not posting pics here at the moment. Maybe you can reassess after you see some real movement how you look as posting a 'this is how I used to look' may be a bit easier than 'this is how I look now'.

Giving the local baths a call to check on wearing t-shirts may be a good move and also to check on quiet times (i.e. no school lessons running). I do not know when you are able to go but it is likely to be much quieter during the week if you can avoid the schools.

Your doing great as are the other guys posting in here who have lost weight and as you can see there is an awful lot of encouragement and advice here for those who wish to take it.

Cheers
RB

Keep at it fella, Was 20½ Stones myself in January, And out of the blue I decided I'd had enough, As of today I'm 16½ Stones, Things are going well, I do the odd weight session, But the main thing is Diet and Cardio, I cant recommend a Cross-Trainer enough (I just got bored of mine, it's in a box room with nothing much else) Just bought a bike and intend to give that a good hammering, Just remember, It will all be worth it in the end :D

Yeah, I am going to buy a cross-trainer when I have lost enough weight to use one. Currently I am above the weight limit of them, and I can not justify several thousand quid buying a commercial one.

It's all a pretty steep learning curve for me currently, especially regarding diet.

My wife is massively supportive of me, taking on my diet with me (she is only 7.5stone) even though she doesn't need to. My wifes friend is the accountant for the Help for Heroes charity and she says they may be able to help with access to facilities such as the Hospital Gym and Pool, as long as it doesn't mean that I take a space or funding from someone else that would be something I would consider.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Personally I don't know too much about the army and what the provide for ex soilders but IMO you should definitly recieve help / training facilities from them to help you reach your goals.

After the injuries you suffered while "at work" they should be aiding you to get back into the best possible shape that you can be.

Great thread and im sure it will give a lot of other people encouragemnent into changing their own diet/body

This is my diet plan to get me started. I am hoping to add more choice to it as I learn more about foods and how each effect my body. I began with Brown rice, but can't get on with it so I have switched to Basmati rice as the GI rating seems the closest in comparison.

Anyway, any and all suggestions are welcome and constructive criticism also. :)
