AM3 Asus 8xx chipset board and Samsung Spinpoint F3 HDD

There is indeed.

I bought my new mobo (in sig) recently and it just would not work with an F3. It just does not see it.

You need to do a firmware update with the HD, but as I am such a noob with such matters, I palmed it off on my mate and am going to buy a WD Caviar Black.

I was asking PapaLazaru.Well I don't see why a F3 wouldn't work with the 8xxx series boards.Just make sure to plug it in the correct SATA port.

"Samsung have released a fix for spinpoint f3 and this motherboard just download the file from here

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/faqView.do?b2b_bbs_msg_id=308

then follow these steps to make a usb dos boot drive here it will make a dos usb boot drive its really easy

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/191416-dos-usb-boot-drive.html

then after u did that just copy the patch named ASUS that you extracted from 641052Patch.rar to the usb drive and boot from the drive you will have to first change boot disk priority to USB first.
Then when in dos just type DIR then press enter and it will show the ASUS EXE that you copied to the usb drive before now type ASUS.EXE then enter and now it will update the firmware and when it has finnished everything just power off and remove your usb drive then power on. YOU WILL NOW HAVE A NON CLUNKING SAMSUNG SPINPOINT F3 COMPATIBLE WITH SB850 CHIPSET."

From reviews on one of the 8xx series mobos.
