Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

He is watching you.

The special forces teams would certainly have a "person of interest is on the run, track and capture him" scenario ... just like SAS have a hostage rescue scenario, despite being a military and not a "police" unit.

I'm sure they do, but the police are also more than up to the task and they have more resources available, so I don't know what would be gained by military involvement. You can't call-up the SAS every time someone with a gun goes on the run.

I'm sure they are, but I would trust the SAS more to use firearms responsibly and not go for a head shot as a way to end a situation. Unless they were ordered to do so.

The SAS can and do get involved with domestic law enforcement, for example they ended a prison siege in Scotland without anyone being killed.

But I see no need whatsoever for them to be used for this situation because the police are highly trained and fully capable of successfully handling it themselves.

Without wishing any offence rypt, please try to consider the sheer scale of this enquiry before labelling the police as crap.

If you feel you can run this enquiry better then do contact Northumbria's SIO on this case with your wisdom.

The Hereford Gun Club are more suited to hunt and capture, especially in a wilderness scenario, than the police force who tend to be more suited to urban investigations.
Equally the boys from Hereford are unlikely to shoot a random Brazilian

You are misinformed, AFO's train in both urban and rural scenarios, scenarios that are being played out for all to see, AFO's in conjunction with dog teams searching rural areas.

You can't have a dog patrol searching for an armed man without armed officers in the group.

I would think that quite a few members of the SAS may well be overseas at the moment, in places like Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, dealing with things far more important.

As for your woefully inaccurate comments about the abilities of Police Firearms Officers and their tactics - well the least said the better.

Police Firearms Officers are trained for these sorts of encounters and have been for well over 20 years.

As a Police Officer I tend not to comment on the abilities and skills of a Plumber* for obvious reasons..... (*insert any occupation you like here)

Don't know if it has been mentioned but this chap thought the guy who locked him up was the guy who was bonking his wife. This is why he killed him.

This guy is making the police look like idiots.

Its like a real life First Blood film. Man feels he has been harshly treated by the police and wants revenge.

Police are panicing. Just need this guy to sew up his arm in a cave. :D

Is that why they shot an innocent Brazilian, because of their high quality of training?
While the biggest failure the SAS had during the Iranian Embassy incident was their failure to kill one of the terrorists but instead capturing him

Training means nothing, if they haven't been in RL combat situations or with people who have they will fail often. Like the woman in Scotland who was waving an air pistol about on her land....... shot in the stomach by the Police, even tho they knew it was an air pistol.... total failure.
