SAS are still military as well and this is a civilian operation, I really don't think Northumbria police will be asking for their help to catch one man for many other reasons.

They are human just the same as anyone else.

The special forces act on Intelligence gathered by numerous sources including their own observations. It is faulty intelligence that is the prime factor in mistakes being made - rarely is it the operators themselves who are directly at fault. That applies to special forces and police.
