MX-5 Geo and Lowering

Personally I’d prefer to take the car to someone with a proven track record and knowledge of the 5's geo setup, otherwise you could be in for quite a few visits till he dials in the settings which feel right on the road.

I've got / used to have a list of custom geo setup's spanning the Mk1 to Mk3 Mx-5, will look on my server at home and see if I’ve still got the file knocking about.

The fella doing it for him at COG is fanatical, he wont let it leave till its perfect.

Yea as Housey but I don't go there much and it's my wife's car not mine so she uses it the most.

Sorry, I was referring to the MX5 Owners Club, not specifically the forum, you get a magazine and go on "meets" etc.

I've recently joined, not been to any rallies yet, but I may.

Sounds promising then, during my stay in MX-5 land i never came across Centre mavity.

Isn't the OC for OAP's? ;)

He is better known in Porsche (he drives one himself) and S2000 circles but has done a number of cars. The thing that impressed me was he knew what settings my old GT3 was running, ride height, corner weighting and geo and he hasn't see if for 9 months!

We should meet up and discuss how things were better when we were kids!

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be :)

No I am not a member of the owners club, just the forum.

Last time i checked the MX-5 isn't very toupée friendly, limited zimmer frame storage space too...

Anyways, i take it the Mk3 is fully adjustable front and back just like the Mk1 & 2, how agresssive you going for on the setup, what sort of change characteristics you looking for, dial out some turn-in understeer?

I have a full head of hair, all my own too. :D

I'm not going anything silly, I just want it pure and proper as currently it's fidgety like all of them it seems from the factory. I want to dial out wandering at speed, some of the off centre steering sharpness and generally make it less prone to wandering around on cambers and undulations. Presently it doesn't feel as precise as I believe it should, but we may find out I am finding out it's not Elise or GT3 sharp. Quite interested to see what he comes up with.

I have very little idea when it comes to car stuff like geo etc, so I left it to Tony.

He gave me a "fast road" set up which I'm happy with. Car feel much firmer but not at the expense of losing my fillings every time I hit a small pothole.

Back end was set to kick out before the fronts lost grip.

Also, FYI I don't have a toupee! :) But it is a bit of a struggle getting in and out when the mx5 is in the garage as my beer gut gets caught on the window glass :D

I did go for a test drive in a MK3 and found it more soft into the corners than my stock MK2
