Vibration Gaming Headset?

I’ve watched a video clip on YouTube showing that ASUS has launched a gaming headset with force feedback function. But to tell the truth, I can’t see how the headset “vibrated” when the reporter used it from the video. Could any of you know how it works? Or could anyone recommend similar vibration headsets to me? Indeed I enjoy playing FPS games and action movies very much, so I’m really interested in this concept, thx.

Also mention that I’ve google this product (Cinevibe) and surprisingly found that it is “top 10 cool gadget in Cebit.” If you too are interested in the concept, you can go for the video clip on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsgPZ91hvUQ

I own the old Saitek vibrating gaming headset. I used it with flight simulators, it was pretty handy, but it was a bit of a novelty in my opinion. You'd be better off spending the extra money on better quality headphones without the vibrating function.

Why would you want a vibrating headset? Do your ears need massaging?

Headphones with enough well controlled bass can give you a sense of tactile feedback. My old Medusas didn't have well controlled bass but they could vibrate to the point of falling off if you upped the volume. It was dirty nasty, distorted, possibly clipping bass and lots of it. Urgh!

Goldring NS1000, DR150 and Senn HD600 are all capable of giving good positional bass sound with a sense of punch and presence (at least with Dolby Headphone or maybe CMSS-3D headphone). It's clean though, which is what I think people should be aiming for.

I still have and use that one.

Blue one? even comes with adapter for you to use batteries for vibration instead of usb.

iTek,
Yeah that's the one, I got it when I bought my Saitek AV8R, and I did enjoy it loads, but my pair got a little wrecked. Couldn't complain for the £20 I paid for them off of Amazon.

roccat kave has a vibrating feature although none of the reviews make light of it, which is odd...anyway I'll tell you if its any good cos I'm getting one tommorrow.

Maybe the vibrating could be a useful feature, if one nods off whilst listening to music late at night, a vibrating function could shake the users head like mad, prompting the user to wake up and go to bed.

This is just a gimmick imo, my mate had a headset that vibrated the earcups when bassy sounds happened and it was just plain annoying.

@Eames, I have a set of Roccat Kaves here and mine dont have any vibrating feature, thank god as well!!!

I thought it was a bit of a gimmick too to be honest - until I tried it out for myself. There have been some shocking headsets which pretended to deliver vibrating feedback but in fact just vibrated like crazy until it gave you a headache.

CineVibe is different and really does give tactile feedback (If you hit a barrier in NFS Shift on the right side of your car, the headset vibrates slightly...if you ram a barrier hard it vibrates more)

Honestly, it's the first time I've seen a "vibrating" headset that *actually* works as intended. ASUS have a pretty strong track record in sound and audio products (Xonar anyone?) so it's certainly worth a try.

A friend of mine had a set of a different sort and said that he would get a headache quite frequently, hopefully these aren't as bad.
