Laptop screen from small to big

My laptop has a native resolution of 1920 x 1200, and a 15.4 inch screen, if i use it with a 22" screen with a lower native resolution will the laptop be working harder or less hard to run games?

Games will run faster. My monitor is 1920x1200. Some games don't run much different than at 1680x1050 whilst others can take quite a performance hit.

Less pixels so you will get better performance

You could also try running at less than native on the laptop, if you can put up with the loss in quality of the display that is.

on a 15.4 inch screen 1920x1200 should be fairly tiny in terms of pixel size (probably one of the highest pixel densities about) So running at a lower res should be OK, actually. The dreaded 'jaggies' would be minimal.
