Impact Wrench

the 12v from machine mart, how well does it to tightening bolts up? would you still have to hand tighten with a wrench?

i.e wheel nuts

You really shouldn't use any form on impact wrench to actually tighten wheel nuts. If they even have a torque limiter setting it's never reliable and can lead to over tightened nuts.

Also you can't feel the movement of the bolt - if some grit gets in the thread you can feel it whilst using a ratchet but if you use the impact wrench you can wreck the threads before you realise it.

You should tighten wheel nuts (and all nuts on essential components) properly with a torque wrench.

I always gun em up and then finish off with a torque wrench. Never had a single issue :).

I'm very surprised how well rated those cheap impact guns are. I'd have thought that they'd really struggle with TIGHT bolts, I've found that even snap on air powered impact guns can struggle undoing mullered up wheel bolts (Nothing that a breaker bar can't fix though ;)).

I'm half interested in getting the high torque 24V Clarke one for work as opposed to an air gun. Means I could use it at home and on track too! Does anyone know what's the battery life like on those?
