I had them, but it was on a 200SX so not the best car to judge them on and it was the only tyres I had on the car

I'd try and get Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 if you can still get hold of them, they are awesome and Vredestein's are good too but cant remember which model, it was the more expensive of thee bunch, great tyres for the price much better than the Yoko Parada I had before hand which were the worse overhyped tyre i've ever used

I've noticed that they're very popular over here and in France. (Probably because they were bought by Michelin 20 years ago..)
Whether they're any good is another matter, which unfortunately I can't coment on.

Check out the reviews here.

They came second in this years Evo Tyre Test so they're not junk. Depends on the price you can get them for

In 225/45/R17 from camskill they are £85 each + fitting locally so about £95

In comparison the goodyear Eagle F1s on camskill in that size are £74 so about £84 fitted for a better tyre.

I looked into these when I was looking for a new set of tyres for the 540i, given the price and size range available ...I couldn't find any good reason to buy them over something widely acknowledged to be better, such as the Eagle F1s or the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas etc, they aren't bad tyres but they are not outstanding either, and they aren't cheap enough to bother with given what you can get for similar money.

I bought a set of these because they were very highly rated by owners of the same car (as tyres rate differently on different cars, try asking on a forum for your car) on a Hona Prelude they grip as well as my Goodyear eagle F1's did in the dry and better than they did in the wet plus they cost less :)

Thats a bold statement i've never used a tyre with as good a wet grip as Eagle F1's

thanks guys

yep the Michelin EXALTO PE2 are highly rated for the clios but also the dearest at £330 ish delivered for 4.

il have a read around and see what other reviews i can find, ive read mixed reviews about the t1R as i was going to get them but dont think i will now

they came top of most of the wet tests in this years tyre test, but then so did the Eagle F1s last time. Shame they didnt test them side by side ....

I have 2 fitted to the front of my saab, and have to say that they have been perfect for my driving style so far. I'm not going to say that they are better than eagle f1's or sport contacts etc as i haven't tried them so i cannot pass judgement. Since fitting them I have never had any problems with wheelspin or had the abs kicking in on very heavy braking. They are no louder than the pilot sport PS2's i have fitted and perform equally well. When they were new i measured 10mm of tread in the main V shaped grooves, which i thought was unusually high since most new tyres are around the 8mm mark.

I chose the rainsports over the vreds because (and this is sad) i hate the sessanta tread pattern. The eagle F1's, PS2 and SC3's were too expensive, so i was left with RE050A, V12 evos, KU31's, T1-R's and FK452 etc. I just thought the uniroyals stood out from the crowd, especially with the rating they had on Tyrereviews and tyretest.

Like I said the same tyre will perform differently on different vehicles, but on that type of car the rainsports did outperform the F1's in the wet

Cool, like I say I had them on one of the worse handling RWD cars ever made, never used Rainsports on FWD. I wouldnt pay more for them though so if I ever need tyres and they are for some reason reason cheaper than eagle F1's i'll give them a try

I had them on the front of my 2.3 V5 Toledo. Not as good as my previous NCT5's in the dry but quite something in the wet. They shifted water really well and the car felt very stable on a rain soaked motorway.

i ordered the rainsport 2s in the end, will report back after a few K miles on how they are.

£218 delivered for 4 from blackcircles

thanks all

I had rainsports 2 on Vectra SRI . Were alright, good in rain. Found them to wear pretty quickly, maybe 5-6000 on the front. Replaced with Continental Premium contacts which I actually found better, in terms of grip and comfort.
