Please can I ask that you keep your eyes peeled for the following car.

My friends VXR was stolen off his driveway overnight. He is really cheesed with himself because he never normally leaves the keys downstairs, last night he did and the thieves took them through the letter box.

The registration is OV08 OWM. The car has Corsa VXR rims and a loud Remus exhaust.

If you see the car or have any information please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

Thanks all!

At least they didn't cave his head in for the keys.

That is something.

I know there is never a good time to have your car stolen but it's even more of a kick in the teeth when we're all supposed to be going to a weekend long Vauxhall show today so if they had come looking for it tonight it would not even have been there. It's a really nice car so I'm keeping everything crossed that it gets located.

What do the insurance company usually do in cases like this? Do they still pay out if you leave the keys somewhere accessible?

Hope it's found ok.

I think they'd struggle to say that the keys being inside your house behind a locked door were "accessible".

My parents had their keys hooked through the letterbox. It was a matter of waiting xx amount of days to see if the car turned up, sadly ours did but if not there was no objection from the insurance company about paying out.

Well clearly they were accessible. :D

I had a read about it on the insurance ombudsmen website, it seems most policies have only have clauses regarding leaving the keys in the car. However there were some cases where the claimant had said the keys were lost/stolen etc. and their insurance companies didn't pay out because the claimant couldn't prove their keys were not just left in the car running on the driveway.

But I guess in most cases they will just pay out like in dovey's parents case.
