Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

Those cows are gonna get shot :D

I cannot believe the number of cops drafted in to get this guy and also the media coverage he is getting.

A cop/soldier gets shot in Northern Ireland and you don't see them drafting hundreds of cops in to hunt down the killers?

If its just for show and to keep people happy then they better keep to this policy from now on.

I have never seen such an over the top manhunt in my life. Only in England.

Surely by now he'll have changed his hair colour and clothes and be growing a beard?

Fact is you can't live on the run forever. Eventually he'll have three choices:

- stay and go to prison
- stay and get shot
- try and leave the country to somewhere without interpol relations and with no extradition treaty with the UK

He could go to Iraq :D N try n face off with our troops but if he starts shooting them our guys will probably have to call london for permission before shooting him..

If you dont get that read the armed forces thread in Speakers lounge lol.

Sounds like there is some threat that he will target the public now.

I'd have thought that with the police being prepared now, the second he makes another attack the net will close in on him very quickly. The media whore will probably stay in hiding and throw a few more empty threats around.

I was about to post actually, interesting how the police roll out the cavalry when one of their own is shot.
What a ridiculous thing to say!

Perhaps there are wider implications ?
It would seem so now, two more arrests, the SIO talking about another vehicle they are interested in locating and an intimation that they are in some way in contact with Moat either directly or through an intermediary.

I would say that his words on not being a threat to the public were not taken as gospel by the SIO from the start and quite rightly so.

By wider implications my point above was that any person with such grudges who shoots a cop at point blank range cannot be dismissed lightly as not being a threat to an unarmed civilian.

As for suggestions of being an over the top response by Northumbria ? The people suggesting this clearly have no grasp of rural Northumberland. It is a huge geographical area to search.

Rothbury and Northumberland are some of my favourite parts of the world to go and get away from it all and while I do not know the area like the back of my hand I do appreciate the implications in searching such an area with its countless fields, hills, ravines, becks, caves, old mineshafts and rivers.
