Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

Must be quite a bit of organisation going into this... I'm curious now about how sealed off this place is... could I just walk in along a seldom trod footpath, or are policemen surrounding it? I want to know, but I'm too bust to go to Northumberland and see it for myself atm. :(

Also, if I was Mr Moat I'd run away to The highlands somewhere and hunt sheep.

It is interesting to see pictures of policemen effectively being soldiers though, it's like a mini police state.

Anyway, hope nobody else gets killed, but interesting nonetheless.

Northumbria police have put a £10k price tag on Raoul Moats head. If he doesn't get caught by next Thursday it goes up to 20k....making it a Raoul over. :D

so basically if you kill him this week you get an extra 10k for stashing his corpse for a week? (or keep him tied up if you dont kill him) surely thats worth the price of some tempory storage rental.

I must have missed the SKY footage which showed police officers armed with fully automatic weaponry, RPGs, hand grenades, bayonets, artillery and capacity for aerial bombardment.

Better armed that troops ? Get a grip magick.

Or perhaps pointing and laughing at paranoid conspiracy theorists who think a pigeon crapping on their shoulder is under the direct orders of the New World Order.

I have to respect your right to post magick but dry some of your posts out and you could fertilise the garden.

Von's striking back, a vicious left right combo to magick's stomach!

Magicks staggering, he's getting back into the fight... OWWWWWwww Von has delivered a knee in to his side!

And it's an uppercut to the jaw, Magick is out for the count!

That... was... brilliant. :D:D

Police brutality :eek::D

To be fair to the lad he's actually right. The H&K G36 is a better assault rifle than the H&K modified L85A1. The Glock is a better pistol than the Browning 9MM.

Are they comparable though ?

The HK modified L85 is designed as a military grade weapon with a longer barrel and capable of fully automatic fire. ( As I'm sure you are aware of ).

The G36C which is almost the standard police carbine these days is capable of single shot fire only with a shorter barrel and is not designed with military use in mind.

As a military weapon, the L85 is the better option. As a police weapon, the G36C is the better option.

The G36 military spec rifle better than the L85 ? I dare say it is.

LOL at Dark Angel. :D

The police get to use expanding ammunition unlike the military...

Well that's debatable. You could go around in circles for ages arguing strengths and weaknesses on paper, I prefer my own experience. Of course the point I was making was that H&K as a brand is better, but I can see I posted myself into a corner so I'll argue it out ;)

At the range and for the duration of a 'normal' contact, the G36C would be perfectly up to the job. Of course a shorter barrel means less accuracy at range, but it won't lose that much, and to a degree that can be negated by good marksmanship and field skills.

The L85 does offer fully automatic fire, but if you use it at all then it's used briefly to get their heads down. A magazine through an L85 lasts less than 3 seconds on automatic, with the best will in the world you aren't going to be able to carry enough ammo to keep that going long. I didn't care for the L85 much before the conversion, there were a lot of issues. After conversion, some of the jamming issues and general issues (cocking handle re-design) were sorted, but the build quality was still tonk. H&K did a great job with it, but you can't make a silk purse out of a pig's ear.

I've used a number of different HKs however and have found all of them to be superb: the MP5K PPW, HK53 and my beloved G3. H&K build quality is superb. They can fire without drama when contaminated, are incredibly accurate and just make me stiff basically.
