Well the title says it all where can I buy wood for a mega desk I didn't know where to put this so I just banged it in this section. Well here's the back story I have 2 large wooden chest of drawers Click here. Basically its a wooden top that sits on top of them stretching from one side to the other.

The dimensions I need are...

Width (One side of room to the other): 97.1/2"
Depth: 33"

I want wood which matches these drawers (Black brown) can someone recommend me a website where I can get this sort of stuff because I've tried some local shops and hit the yellow pages, so far know one will do it in the size I want.

Oh yeah this desk needs to support my PC, Speakers Monitors keyboard, ps3 TV.

Thanks for the reading :)

I bought 3metres worth of kitchen worktop to use as a desk surface. cost all of 30 quid from b&q at the time

no timber yards local to you how will cut to the dimensions you want? maybe buy a sheet of multi ply or summat similar and cut and stain it to your needs? or search for formica work tops, tho these can be expensive especially for shipping due to weight

97 inch is hella long. Consider using more than one bit of wood.

It's only an inch over the fairly standard 8 foot length that a lot of wood (especially sheet materials) are available it.

Given the colour/finish of the drawers one option might be for the opp to have a look at "black ash" contiboard, and lay that over a heavier, cheaper base board.

Remember to allow for supports at different points, not just the back/ends, but every couple of foot or so along the front if it' going to be carrying anything heavy, either standard adjustable legs or something fancier:)
My desk is currently inch thick mdf, painted with two layers of a tough kitchen mdf paint, supported all along the back by a batten it's screwed into, then at the front by adjustable legs at various points (especially under/near where things like my monitor/tv sit on it).

Might sound illogical, but I was considering making a desk as well and wanted something solid. I found they were selling very thick solid doors at Selco which were very cheap (£40/50) and would suit you quite well.

Table top from IKEA, I got one for twenty quid

im looking at doing kind of the same. Its going to go along one wall and have a corner section along another (if that makes any sense) Its going to be used to house my pc. moniters, and 2 small fish tanks (One 5 gallon and one 17 gallon)
I just need to wait till my dad gets back on his feet so he can help me

My dad used a 8ft piece of American oak for his. Not sure where he got it from, probably Timbmet

I dropped it when we were trying to carry it upstairs and it broke my toe...

Proper wood looks really nice if you do it properly, might be quite pricy though.
