I also have a few health issues which im really stressed about so the stress is affecting creating other problems too like not sleepong and headaches and just thinking about my problems.

Has anybody else been through something similar? I know i should just not worry but i cant seem to help it

Any advise is much appreciated

Thanks

Going for long, slow walks on the beach or a canal.
Reading a book that isn't to taxing.
Hot bath...

If you have a missus the walk is even better.

I beat my anxiety by tackling it head on. It was really hard but it worked. If you ever feel anxious about anything, just do it to prove you're better than it. For example, if you ever get an anxiety attack when you're about to leave the house, take ten minutes to calm down but make sure you absolutely leave the house, don't just stay inside and forget about it.

Tackle the issue behind the stress. Note down what's stressing you and work out a plan for each thing, then do it. This I find is the best remedy, however it means using some motivation. :p

i've been in a similar situation, and despite people saying "don't waorry about it" it's impossible to let go sometimes.

talk to your parents, keep yourself occupied and try and view things in a longterm perspective.

my girlfriend recently had similar issues, so went off to see a therapist and within a month she was back on her feet.

there are a couple of good books by Claire Weekes that definitely help. good luck!

exercise, trashing and owning noobs on MW2.

Most stress/anxiety you feel is a sense of worthlessness from not having a job. It's dumb how we're programmed to feel that way if we're unemployed. If you find a job, i'm sure stress will relieve itself. If you go back into education, same thing. It's the act of progression that helps.

Try to release stress/anxiety by changing your opinion of not progressing. Finding a job is really hard atm. You'll get there eventually. For now, give yourself a project, for me, I learn PHP. For you it could be learn Mandarin... do something to make your spare time feel worth it.

Anyway... back to the OP, I think you could potentially benefit from talking to a councilor and trying to find the root of your stress/anxiety.

I have terrible anxiety and it is the main cause of my IBS, after speaking to somebody about it I decided to change jobs and I am very happy I did as I am much better now.

I'm not saying your job is the cause but I think it's more of a mental state which needs to be dealt with.

@asim: no, if you suffer from anxiety, like the OP, the weed will make it worse regardless.

I suffer quite badly from anxiety. Recently I packed in drinking, I was drinking way too much at home. Half bottle of whiskey probably 4 nights a week. Didn't do me any good at all, I feel vastly better for having stopped.

Been riding my bike a lot lately, just having something to 'do' helps loads. I just try and occupy myself. I smoke my shisha, go for a ride on my bike, mess about maintaining my bike, play really hard games... Anything that occupies you and passes time is good for taking your mind off it.

The shisha takes a while to set up, smoke it for an hour, spend a while cleaning it, it can easily suck up a couple of hours. Same with the bike, ride for an hour or two, then clean it and stuff after that can suck up a bit more time.

If you don't really have any hobbies or you're bored of them, get a new one definitely, anything you can plough time/thought into.

When the subject of your anxiety is there hit it head on, when it shouldn't be occupying your mind but is, fill it with something else. Think about it when you have to and don't think about it when you don't.

Going for a long walk, talking and listening to music. A long, very early morning drive also works a treat.

Alcohol, drugs and taking it out on others don't work.

Gym or jog.

If it's work/deadlines that's stressing me out, I find that working harder to get the stuff done usually sets my mind at ease. That sounds pretty weird, but I find that it's usually the worry of not getting something done that stresses me rather than being over-worked.
