I am moving to Norway on the 27th of this month, and I have pretty much worked out how I am going to take my computer on the plane, it is only mATX. However the big problem (and I mean 26kg big) is ... my 19" CRT monitor. I got it for £12 and it replaced my horrible 7 year old 17" syncmaster TFT. Since I bought this CRT I have fallen in love with it and constantly live in fear of it randomly breaking (it is 10 years old, it is a Mitsubishi 900u Diamondtron). But yeah basically the reason I am positng is because it is going to cost me 300NOK to take it on the plane (£30+) but I reckon baggage people will probably break it no matter how well I pack it. To get DHL to ship it for me properly is £94. So basically I wanted to know how much would a 19" TFT monitor on par with my 10 year old 19" CRT would cost (I HATE TFTs lol). If it is more than £94 to buy a decent TFT do you think I should go for DHL shipping?
At the moment I think I am just going to try and pack the CRT as best I can and put it on the plane. If it breaks I'll just try and buy a secondhand CRT in Norway (that will be expensive :S).
What do you guys think? Anyone have experience with monitors and planes? Tips on packing the computer or the monitor will be invaluable.
Thanks in advance!
