Okay, i've got my new mobo and cpu as in my sig, currently waiting on my ram to be delivered before I embark on my quest to quad processing goodness.

I have a Hyper TX-3 running on my current C2D setup, which I applied new thermal paste to when installing my new case.

How difficult is it to clean a heatsink without resorting to specialist cleaning fluids? Should I just choke up the £5?

I'm not planning to O/C straight away until I see how stable the system is. Will I notice a lot of difference from using the stock fan or is the upgrade essential?

Cheers!

depending on what thermal paste used, it could be just as simple as wiping the old stuff off with a suitable cloth

Okay its coolermaster thermal compound, bog standard stuff, I cant get to the heatsink currently, but it looks like it might just wipe off, are there any suggested fluids just to fully clean it?
