How do you get rid of stress and and anxiety?

gym works but i never deliberately go to the gym if i'm annoyed just happens to be a good escape when i'm there. Blowing up people online always works well when angry as for stressing out about something a drive in the dead of night always works a treat, in fact been doing that one a lot lately.

Can't remember the last time I got stressed, it's been so long I've almost forgotten what it feels like. I think mainly due to my outlook on life, I see people getting stressed every day though and to be honest it's nearly all avoidable. And don't think for a minute I live an ideal life ;)

The trick is not to see situations as stressful and I think know your limits and make decisions based on that. Like for instance if you've got too much work to do, either do it or do not. If you're worried about your health accept that you can either sit there getting all worried and stressed about it or you can do the logical thing and either do something about it or if you cannot accept that there is nothing you can do.

I know this prayer is a little overused and used by AA too, but I think personally it is the one greatest and most life changing bits of advice if you can take it to heart:

Grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

That'e the most important part I think, further to that the prayer/poem goes on to give some other important lessons:

Patience for the things that take time
Appreciation for all that we have, and
Tolerance for those with different struggles
Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the
Ability to feel your love for us and our love for each other and the
Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless.

Sorry if the post sounds a bit preachy or a bit foolish, but I really think that the words above or the sentiment they carry can be very useful to those that do get stressed, worried and anxious. It's not a quick fix but if you make a conscious effort to see your problems from another perspective and if you find yourself stressed, worried, anxious or angry and it is affecting you, it's best to sit and think to yourself, how are these emotions helpful? Just make your decision on the matter and move on.

my missus suffers from anxiety and panic attacks every now and then an she found aromatherapy worked wonders, if you think thats abit girly though could always try to get your partner to give you a massage or even try acupunture

Im really stressed and not finding a job and im currently thinking about going back to uni to do a masters.

I also have a few health issues which im really stressed about so the stress is affecting creating other problems too like not sleepong and headaches and just thinking about my problems.

Go on holiday for a few days, somewhere like Amsterdam. (Or anywhere else of course...). A short break can do wonders.

sit outside...at night then if u cant sleep....and think....much more easier to concentrate...(eventually u will find a path to walk xD).....

u could just beat a guy up in the street (at night though xD) ...have some fun lol....

Any kind of sport, I somehow manage to keep up Rugby (sevens because I'm a lightweight nippy little *******), Football and Tennis. Literally feel so much better for it and my legs are tonk.

I go shooting, mainly rough shooting, when the different game/wildfoul seasons kick in its better, shoot something and get a nice meal out of it, pheasant, grouse duck etc, i do a bit of clay pigeon shooting, mainly dtl few rounds of skeet, but not as much as i used to, kinda expensive, had to sell my beretta 682x trap gun as times are tight.:(

I've also been looking job searching for a while.

When I play games or mess about online it makes me feel really guilty and makes things worse. I've found that just putting aside a few hours to job search and follow up helps so much.

That and any physical activity. So mountain biking on gorgeous trails, jogging in the morning, swimming, etc.

Normally if I put aside a few hours to job search then I'll get into the flow and end up spending a lot of time on it. It's unintentional but the act of aiming to spend an hour job searching then turns into a lot longer and gets me started and helps so much.

After, if I'm messing about with games or surfing, it's without guilt and its a lot more fun.

Still though, it's a lot bearing down on your shoulders when you can't find anything. My next step is to try new tactics, like calling companies and asking to speak to staff about vacancies. It's worked for me before.

Hah!

I've got a job and I still feel like that.

If only I invest(ed) all that time spent on games and internet arguments into working even more or a business etc.

I've tried to stop doing it, didn't come here for a few months stopped going on the computer all together. But now that I think about it, I've been drawn in again. :/

:p
