my brother has just been round and told us a super blonde story.

my bro is gay, he is going to his best friends wedding ( female ) and is the male of honour??
last night he was out with a load of work mates and was explaining that he is the male of honour etc etc.
one of his female friends who was sitting by him whispered in his ear " how come they are letting you in the church " my bro is like " what do you mean " and she says " being gay an all " at this point he realises that its going to be a classic blonde thought, " why does that matter " he asks, and she then told him that she thought gays were not allowed in churches or places of worship.

after 5 mins of uncontroled laughter he explainded that they were allowed in churches.

thought id share as it did make me chuckle

Well, it's a fairly reasonable assumption to come to, given that churchs of all forms preach that your brother is committing a cardinal sin and is to face eternal damnation in the firey depths of hell. :p

I see your point, but in the eyes of Christianity, there are few without sin. Also, a Christian would say that God loves everyone, and is forgiving. It's the forgiving that makes him divine. Christ forgave those who put him to death.

We could go all day with this, there are many complications and even conflicting inconsistencies to discuss.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were many churches in the world where homosexuals were not allowed to enter (think of some of the Bible states in the deep south USA etc). However, in the UK such things would likely cause some sort of public outrage, so I find it unlikely, and thus a very ill-informed question if you had any idea what churches were like in this country. It sounds like the person in question has never been to one.

As far as i can tell she was simply applying some logic to the situation.

However I think there is one thing we can all agree on, religion is not always (ever) logical

What Church have you been to that preaches that? I've been going to Church for 35 years now and have never heard such a message, quite the opposite actually that God loves and forgives everyone.

Maybe I should have said the canon. All I know is what the religion itself says and preaches, and the Bible makes it absolutely plain about what it wants to happen to homosexuals.

I used to believe this myself, when I was younger, seeing as homosexuality is meant to be a sin and all... Just another religeous hypocrisy.

You must have sussed it by now?

Really? because when I read the Bible I didn't think it made anything absolutely clear :p

I would concur regarding many, many things. However, my (perhaps limited) readings of the Bible have left me with little doubt regarding 'sodomy' and how one that practices it is to be punished.

Note: please forgive the somewhat distasteful manner in which I appear to be speaking about homosexuality, I'm merely doing it for the purpose of appropriate contextualisation. I don't care who you like, don't like, sleep with, don't sleep with, nor how you go about it or don't go about it. :p

EDIT: I can pop in a few references from the Bible if you'd like.
