Lighting for Canon 7D video

I'm looking into taking some nightclub videos with a Canon 7D. Given the nature of it, I'm worried about the lighting for people's faces up close. Is there any way I can use a flash for lighting (say a 430ex or 580ex?). Other than that I suppose I could strap a generic torch to it?

I don't think either the 430 or 580 will remain on as they are strobes.

I'd like to be proved wrong though, as it would be really handy!

Have you looked at dedicated studio lighting? Plugged into the mains and is portable too.

No, they're flashes not constant lights. You want a hotshoe mounted LED light of some description, but a good one won't come cheap.

They come in different sizes, are battery powered and are used for exactly the sort of thing you need.
