emmm

hey, im running RB020 uk gen (unrooted)on my x10 (debranded from vodaphone) just now and with all 3g and updates turned off and seem to have great battery life, losing less than 1% every 2 hours, but i am also utilising Startup auditor (free) to kill moxier, timescape and playnow. Memory Task Cleaner (free) to clean up my memory and Advanced Task Killer (free) to clean up other tasks, but i am using them without auto kill functions enabled, do these actually do anything as ive read that android has a built in AI for process and application work and would i be better uninstalling them? And on another note i am still just using the default home ui but have read that some of the aftermarket replacements are better..............could someone advise on these queries;)

try ADW launcher from the market. nice clean look , some good adjustable settings and some people think it helps battery (i dont really see how it can)

as for the task killer versus battery i dont think theres much in it tbh. some think it helps. some think it doesnt. only way to find out is to do some tests yourself.

re:emm

tried helix but that seemed to drain the battery, quite liked home++ but the stock one does the job, i was wondering as some have suggested that some of these launchers actually maintain battery life..........and have been using the aforementioned task apps for a while now, they seem to help but im no techie so cant really say, its only battery preservation tips im really interested in
;)

emm

cant be bothered with the hassle of rooting, and its only 3g use that seems to suck the lifeblood from my battery quicksmart, get just over 2 days use (turned off at night anyhow) inc lengthy calls and maniac txting....so will just probably stay as, cant wait for the further updates inc 2.1 and further firmware.......heard 2.1 will implement some nice battery saving touches with it being a better designed os...........let the good times roll

Hi all
Quick simple question.
What is the best software Service to use to update the X10 firmware??
The Sony Ericsson Update Service or there PC Companion software, which I just have notice can update the firmware also.

Both are very simple and easy to use. I personally prefer SEUS though, as its a few less clicks :p

IMO Its not worth "rooting" the handset untill they have access to the boot loader. Untill then I am going to stick on this Nordic firmware which is brillant for battery life. :D

Just a general feedback would you recommend it? for a first smart phone? and will it be compatible with my Mail application on my mac?

Its a very quick quick small little phone, which so far I have been very impressed with something on it a better IMO then its bigger bother. So far, I have not charged the phone in 4d and I still have 90% left on the battery. I can provide pictures as proof if needed :D

jump in.......

would you say the nordic firmware is a better choice than the RB020 uk generic? and im guessing you have a mini? would the obvious battery preservation not be down to the fact that the mini has a smaller screen and less power requirements (5mp vs 8mp camera etc), have tried it in store but cant see how it would be a better handset, having medium to large hands makes having such a handset a bit off a no-go, feels feeble and toylike (no offence meant), but i like the look and layout of the mini pro as i was toying with the n900 before opting for the x10i;)

Thanks, I went and had a look at one yesterday afternoon it is super small! but still usable so I think I am settled on getting one and all the online reviews seem positive for what I am looking for.

Anyone had any experience with quidco cashback and mobiles.co.uk cashback? and can you use them together to get double cashback :D

I have both :D

From my experience, I am seeing much better battery life from using the Nordic firmware. On average it's around about 2 days now.

R2BA020 - UK
R2BA023 - Nordic

The Mini only has a 950mAh battery and the X10 has a 1500mAh battery :D

How do I pull apk files off my non rooted phone? Is it possible.

Whilst the x10 was good, for about a net cost of £20 I can now switch to the Galaxy S. However, i want to keep some apps which have been pulled from the market.
