I rang in sick today.

You've done the right thing mate have a few days off and let them worry about the fishbar. Go off with stress if that's how you feel as It can soon lead to other illness.

Supermarkets are all the same so If you're looking for something else I'd keep well out of retail. Take It easy today and chill.

Those are insane hours... you definitely need a time off..

Don't think about what they'd think about you for it, no one is in position to judge you except yourself, because no one understands you better than yourself (and your woman probably), that's my approach to most things anyway :P I just don't give a damn about what others think :P

I'm pretty sure you truly think you deserve a day of two off (probably more), the rest doesn't matter.

My CV is here. I did this one last year. Ignore the Technical Skills and Hobbies and interest section as they were there for a different job I thought about going for. They are there to be amended according to what job I will go for.

Not a final Cv but its heading in the right direction I think.

Edit: Got Doctors at 4:20 this afternoon. Ill get the good lady to pop the sick note in work after.

You might want to take the full spec of your audio video equipment out of the CV, nobody looking at it is interested in that.

I did say ignore that section:p. I put it in relevant to the job I was going to go for as it was an A/V retail shop and they wanted to know what knowledge and how my hobbies fitted in with the job.

Agreed! Also would probably do away with the centralized personal statement and keep it left aligned, maybe throw some contact details on there as well! Good luck with the search :)

Morrisons are really bad to work for. I was halfway between grocery manager and ADM (small store so larger store structures didnt really apply, I was a key holder etc). I was only there for 6 weeks due to another job coming up in a better career path for me, but in that time i was averaging 65-70 hour weeks and only being paid for 40 of them. My girlfriend has just left another store where she was part time and it does seem to be a trend of stretching staff so thin that they break, leaving the store even worse off, staff turnover even for a supermarket is stupendous.

Fishbar? Is this the fish counters? If so isn't that whole of the counters ran by a single manager? Seems odd to have a manager for just a 2 or 3 people.

Now I know why there are so few people on the checkouts at Morrisons. Because they have no one to spare.

while i do feel for you this clubnote culture drives me mad. Face your problems head on running away for a week or two isn't really going to make any difference.

A good friend of mine was laid off from a large ASDA store about 18 months ago. He was working as nights manager pulling 70+ hours a week, he'd been diagnosed with depression and all sorts. Despite his store exceeding it's profit targets in the depths of the recession, he was laid off. I pity the poor sod who had to do day and night as store manager, I doubt he gets any sleep at all.
Walmart = Scum.

He's now working for Morrisons at a smaller store, on less than half the salary, pulling the same hours and only getting paid for his contracted amount.
You're not alone it seems.

*facepalm*

So you are saying I should go back to work and carry on.. I take it you dont work for Morrisons then. It has made me ill. If I went back I will get worse. I have not had a holiday for 5 months and I will lose 2 weeks holiday because of the stupid 10% rule as my year end is August.

Oh and another thing. I had a call from work. I didnt answer it but they left a message, apparently I did 6 days last week and the extra day wasnt autorised so I wont get paid. I have gone over my average hours for the last 13 weeks. Which means I will get a counceling for it.

I DID 7 BLOODY DAYS.... They know that. Even the customers mentioned the fact I seem to always be there..

... I called in after thinking about it. They will have to get cover, they leave it to me to organise it now its thier turn to do it. I have no idea what this compnay si coming too. They keep telling me to find cover myself. HOW? I am on the fishbar on my own, serving, filling up etc, How can I possibly ring other staff, walk to other departments asking for cover whilst trying to maintain a sucsessful department.

Its beyond a joke now. Do you think I have done the right thing?

You have to look after yourself so yes you have done the right thing.

Your story sounds very familiar, if you replace 'fishbar' with 'NHS hospital', it's very much the same lol.

Hope you feel better soon :)

As far as i was aware, you're not allowed to work 7 days straight continuously. Working time regulations say you must have at least 24 hours off per 7 days, or 48 hours per fortnight (unless your off-shore, military etc)
