Blackberry 9800 Bold Slider

Hi there all, i'm not sure you many of you guys are aware of this phone, it hasn't been released yet. I'm now due for an upgrade (currently have a Blackberry 8900 Curve) and came very close to getting an IPhone 4 the other day. I decided to wait until the next wave of phones are released before making my decision.

Then I came across these videos on You Tube that you guys might be interested in:

This video shows the new OS6 running on the upcoming BB 9800 phone:

This next video shows the new web browser (Webkit) running:

I'm gonna hold off getting a new phone until this one is released then I will make a decision whether to get one of the new Android phones, IPhone or this one.

Looks promising, although the touch looks slightly unresponsive and the browser still seems to be lagging behind the Android and iPhone browser.

Will they release 6.0 for the 9700? or is it only for the 9800.

Don't really know whether they will release 6.0 for the 9700, maybe not so they drive the sales of the new phones, but who knows?

The software running is still pre-release software so that explains why it is a bit laggy. Let's see how the browser compares the the IPhone and Android browsers with the final release.

The new webkit browser is supposed to be faster than both Android and iphone...but as its pre-release device it has a few bugs in it. Plus my brother in Canada works very closely with RIM himself and he has one of these altho its a pre-release device and says its a bit buggy at the moment. But did tell me that its an awesome device and will be very good when its released.

As for 6 being released??..it probably will do much like OS5 was released for other devices soon as it was out...probably be able to get a beta release of it.

Personally im waiting to see what the 9800 slider is all about...so far from the videos i have seen and my brothers opinion on it...it looks to be a very nice device.

Luckily for me hes coming here for a few weeks in August so is bringing it along...so will have an in-depth play with it....cant wait tbh.

Cool, do you have any idea when RIM are planning on releasing the 9800 slider?

From what he has told me and what i have been reading...around year end ie Nov/Dec....maybe Oct but no one is 110% certain yet.

Sound good - I am due an upgrade in December and have become a bit of a Blackberry fan - as I mostly Text/Email and the keypad and ease make it full of win.

Those are the features that makes me want to stay with a Blackberry as well, the e-mail push service is amazing, and a better browser will be a big plus.

Yeah this the phone I'm waiting for. Has potential to be fantastic. Strong rumours on crackberry reckon Aug / Sept release but we'll see.

I hope the release is more closer to August. November/December will be a bit of a painful wait.

Yes i dont see why not...depends on the spec of the 9800 slider but from what i have been told...its going to have at least the same sort of cpu that the 9700 uses...512mb of ram which will make it fly...the 9650 has 512mb of ram, its the CDMA version of the bold and its pretty nippy.

Just a case of tweaking it so that it runs smooth on the new devices....the older devices might have an issue with it running smooth but then thats to be expected...pretty sure my 9700 will run OS6 pretty well.

It does look nice but personally im not too sure if ill get one for sure...not a fan of slider phones as they tend to be flimsy ie my nokia N95 8gb used to flex/wiggle a bit.

But i wont know till next month when my brother brings his pre-release 9800 over for me to have a good tinker with...i hope the build quality is decent ie the slider mechanism as i would love to get this phone when its released.
