I want to see Palit Sonic Platinum in SLI owning a 5970
Seems a pair of 460 in SLI offer GTX480 type performance.

Quite a bit better than a single 480 judging by this review, in fact 460 SLi is pretty close to 5970 performance in quite a few of those tests.

Im so glad i waited and didnt buy a 480!
Its still early days and I'm sure drivers will alter the gap but it seems the 5970 has a quite comfortable lead.
I did read the www.techpowerup.com review and a few others and it seems the GTX480 is on par give or take.

After havin a quick read of this thread, looks like the gtx 460 could be the new budget card 
and I can see the gtx460 in sli going to be a winner
and I can see the gtx460 in sli going to be a winner@ 1920x1200 out of the 22 benchmarks they ran a single 480 only beat the 460 in SLi twice.
Most of the time 460 SLi was comfortably ahead of the 480, and sometimes beating a 5970.
I know I read it twice.
Definately, performance sitting somewhere between a single 480 and a 5970 for less than 380 quid

Go for the sonic plat then I think for £400 you get something that beats the 5970

More surprising is how it stays ahead of the 480 at the higher res as well.
Everything must now point to a 485 coming out with the new chipset revision. Bring on the new GPU war
Not forgetting the GTX 475, which is what (given the out of stock Palit 460 SP) I'm now going to wait for.
