[ 7/11/2010 11:15:12 PM] BROUGHT THIS GEFORCE 9500 GT FROM A LOCAL COMPUTER SHOP STATED IT HAD 2 YEAR OR MORE WARRENTY WHEN BROUGHT PROBLEM IS CARD WILL POST AND BOOT INTO WINDOWS BUT ONLY IN SAFE MODE IF ANY NVIDIA DRIVERS ARE INSTALLED THE COMPUTER CRASHES BEFORE PASSWORD PROMT IN WINDOWS HAVE EVEN TRIED USING THE CARD AS A PHYSX CARD BUT AS SOON AS I INSTALL IT INTO THE SYTEM THE COMPUTER WILL NOT BOOT INTO WINDOWS CAN I PLEASE RMA CARD AS I BELEAVE IT IS FAULTY DID TRY TO TAKE CARD BACK TO SHOP BUT THE SHOP HAS SINCE CLOSED WITH OUT ANY MOVING ADDRESS POSTED

[SHAUN_T 7/12/2010 9:39:15 AM] Hi Lee, thanks for your message. Did you make any hardware or software changes, move the PC or notice any unusual messages on start-up when the problems began? Test the graphics card in a different system to see if you encounter the same issues. Kind regards, Shaun.

[ 7/12/2010 9:10:35 PM] no i have tested in another system and that crashes before going into windows too i did say that the problem is with the card not with my system i have 2 gtx 470 in it and there is no problem with them i even tested the card with those removed still same problem the 9500gt is out of my old system which i have just upgraded to give to my son 2 totally different sytems same fault i would like to rma the card

[JAMES 7/13/2010 9:36:16 AM] Hi, thanks for your message, for returns please contact your reseller for info on their returns procedure, as they hold the warranty for the card. If you have any other questions please let us know. kind regards, james

[ 7/13/2010 10:41:51 AM] why am i talking to 2 different techs if u had read the first message it states that the reseller has moved or closed down i dont know as there is no other address at the shop for them so instead of asking me silly questions about have i tried this or have i tried that and just answer my first question can i rma this card or not

[SHAUN_T 7/13/2010 10:47:29 AM] Hi Lee, thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, if you have experienced the same issues with your graphics card when tested in multiple systems, it would appear to be faulty. However, as your reseller is closed, there is no longer any warranty as this is usually the responsibility of the reseller within Europe. However, we may be able to look at offering a discounted upgrade if this is something that would interest you? Kind regards, Shaun.

[ 7/13/2010 11:01:45 AM] the word may be able to offer an upgrade is a bit of an insult considering i spent good money on that card only for it to not be covered by a warrenty because a shop has closed i would not get treated like this by any other graphics card company that i have rmaed to why on earth would i upgrade and probly only get 10 % off and then still not be covered for warrenty in europe its pretty sad that a company of your size can not even deal with this i wont be buying xfx again and will certainly be posting my findings on the overclockers forums i use save any one else having the same problem resellers do close it happens theres a credit crunch

Yeah XFX warranty sucks, they take the easy way out leaving it all to the reseller, now this normally is not a problem but in your case it is.

Tbh, you sound like a nightmare customer, but you have a point, it's pretty unfair to you.

The warranty is technically with the point of sale unfortunately. Has the shop definitely gone?

I suggest flogging the card as faulty on an auction site of your choosing and moving on. You don't need a PhysX card anyway from what I've heard.

CAPS RAGE

always buy your computer hardware from a reputable dealer - namely OcUK

Apparently, typing an entire email in caps makes your point far better than in a well constructed, polite and well thought-out email.

But yes, always buy from a trusted supplier. There's a reason I'd rather buy from OCUK than risk a lesser known company, and it's the same reason I'd rather buy my DVD's from well established stores.

Bird is the word

So I've heard!

Also, no 'r' in bought.

In other news, i've had that problem with cards before, and its often that you've left some oc settings somewhere, or some oc software is trying to set the gpu clocks way higher than the card can handle.

Try uninstalling any oc progs (like msi afterburner, or rivatuner etc) then installing the card again.

cheers hex but the card is borked it dont even boot into windows will only do safe mode no overclocking programes loaded on the second system its the card its a 3d cripple

as to the caps some times i just cant be bothered to press the caps key again

think the shop went bump was only a small place but was ok for getting little bits now and again the card was cheaper at the time i brought than on oc so was a bargin

as to reputable retailer dont make me laugh all compainies can be knobs some times theres always a spanner working some where its just that most of the time i aint had the misfortune to have to deal with that said spanner when it comes to rma lol

not a nightmare customer but those 2 techs are tools and i cant be doing with silly ass questions because one to lazy to read orginal complaint

if you was a tech and customer says to u "i have 470 gtx sli in their system and tryed testing in safe mode" would u not think this guy knows what hes doing and not a noob

the answers i got where more like a scripted reply and not off some one with a tech back ground

hlennie, I'd removed that disguised swearie if I were you in post 15, mods will give you a holiday otherwise. :p

*EDIT*

NM a moderator spotted it literally seconds later. I fail. :(

I've worked doing IT support, and I can tell you you'd be surprised the things people come out with when they think they know what they're talking about but actually have no idea. They're just being thorough and not leading you up the wrong path, wasting your time. They don't know if you actually know anything or not. They might not have a tech background, but they should still be able to troubleshoot and request an RMA if it's necessary. XFX cards wouldn't be so cheap if they hired tech pros for all their support or passed on the warranty.
