A member of the family has a book that is now complete however we are struggling to find someone to do a front cover illustration using her idea. Contacted a few people but they are either fully booked or not exactly what we need.

Any ideas where we should look?

Thankyou

p.s The person would be payed ofcause

Contact a local art college for illustration students about to graduate/recent graduates.

You'll get top quality work for relatively cheap and you'd be doing them a huge favor as its something great for their CV, in a profession thats extremely hard to start off in. :)

I know you should never judge a book by its cover, but don't you think that's a little too cliché?

i wouldn't worry too much about this, in most cases its the illustrator not the subject matter that is important. its only going to look cliche if its done in a cliche style. i'm not in the industry anymore but the bread and butter jobs are usually boring y'know - its your job and you are payed to make them work and look good.

Thanks Deiwos , good info :)

Nix :p

no problem Neil. My sister is a freelance illustrator, although I doubt of the style you're after. She recently did a series of book covers for £450 per cover which, going by the AOI's recommended pricing, was cheap for the rights and usage they got out of it.

Any other questions I'll see if I can help/get her to help :)
