I am enjoying Mass Effect 1.

One of my favourite games ever.

If only they had implemented controller support for PC version. My couple of playthroughs were on the 360, and thought it would be nice to play with better graphics, so bought the PC version off Steam.

Then discovered no 360 gamepad support :( Just can't be bothered with mouse and keyboard anymore. Same reason I just bought Bioshock 2 on 360.

Maybe will buy xpadder. Maybe will just keep on playing the xbox version as have 2 on xbox too. Still need to decide.

Good you enjoy it :D really not enjoying ME2 as much as the first though :(

I'm hoping the third one will hit the sweet spot and be the best of the three

A lot of the bioware games are tough to get into, but suck you in once you are there.

Knights 1 and Mass Effect were both similar in that respect for me, probably took me 6 or 7 attempts to get into each before getting sucked into the story.

I'm starting to get into Mass Effect also after someone in another thread guided me where to go (I was unsure what to do after becoming the owner of the ship at the beginning :P)

Feel the same about 2 being not so great.

There was jsut very little in the way of a gripping story for me. It was all about recruiting this team which gets used for only a couple of hours.

And I felt obligated to recruit the entire team. Would ahve been better in my opinion if it asked you to recruit one of each person with specific abilities, and once you had those couple you could move on - but then it would be over in a flash.

The pacing and decision making was all wrong. I didn't feel like I had any hard choices until the last couple of hourse, where as I felt I had plenty of hard choices to make throughout ME1.

It's not bad, it's just not great.

Whats not to like?

I think ffalic makes a lot of the points..also i feel a bit er..shepharded around everywhere within missions and such. Fortunately everything's a little less repetitive on the exploration front which is good, but...just not getting the same sense of freedom of exploration and enjoyment out of the areas and missions.
(it may seem like a petty gripe but it was also nice to be able to just take my weapon out anywhere i wanted in the first game)

Will still play it through to the end though, apparently it gets better later :)

Loved ME1 but hated the Mako.

Must have been close to giving myself an embolism by trying to force the damn thing up an incline by sheer force of concentration :D.
