Is life getting better, or are we on a downward spiral?

People fear nuclear power generators, my dad being one of them. We should have fission in the next 50 years or so anyway, possibly less if progress continues as it has been. Then we can start planning fission plants and keep everyone happy. Short term though, i.e. less than 10 years, we will face a lot of problems. While small nuclear plants may take 8 years to build, are they profitable? Nuclear isn't a short term solution.

Hate to **** on your bonfire, but aren't the nuclear power stations we use now fission plants? Aren't we all waiting for fusion?

It's all a load of rubbish, people will always moan, they always have and always will.

Some people are only happy when they have something to moan about.

Wake up, eat, have a shower, dress up, go to work (45 stuck in traffic), work for 9 hours (no enjoyment here), go back home (another wasted 45 min in traffic), eat, watch tv/use computer/do whatever you like for 3 hours, go to bed. REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT in ........... constant loop.

Life sucks.

Life on a 9-5 for me is exactly as you describe, a depressing loop that makes it feel as if you're stuck on a treadmill. Especially in winter when you're travelling to work in the dark, then home again without actually getting outside in the daylight. I found I was far happier working 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm. Sadly, that came to an end when I was made redundant from that job, but I'd love to go back to it. Unfortunately a similar opportunity hasn't presented itself for me yet, and I'm stuck on a 9-5 again. I hate it. :(

Someone i know has a porsche 911 and a porsche boxter, and he prefers the boxter as because its slower he can drive it harder without the speed factor just so he can listen to the noise it makes.

Sums it up pretty well for me.

The industry for exhausts to make your car louder is massive. Just off the top of my head i can list

Tubi
Akrapovic
Miltek
Jetex
Remus
Scorpion
Magnex
Magnaflow
Peco
Ashley
Borla

etc etc all massive corps that make louder exhausts for all sorts of cars.

Mostly so people with crappy cars can feel like they have a sports car. Noise is fine for a while, but it is over-rated. Most of the noise love i've noticed is due to "loud=fast". If these electric ones can accelerate so quickly at the minute, i don't find it hard to imagine the sensation of acceleration will outweigh the loss of the noise? It's just that with things how they currently are, noise is what we're used to.

I'm afraid to say you are right that mankind is in a downward spiral and it is spiralling out of control. Everything around us is designed to cope with the harsh realities of life or prolong our suffering. Technology is pulling our communities apart. Crack is being fed to the kids. The majority stay silent while the ignorant few rule the world. We live in a world of government cover ups and under the table corruption. Our destiny is an end of days scenario. We have until 2012 at which point all bets are off.

Aparantley it was all much better when we had rationing, scurvy, 10% of the population were killed in WWII and a million in WWI, our self industry was being closed down millions without work and TV was in B&W

Tubi only make exhausts for exotics, the kind of cars that cost more than the average house...

Doom and gloom is the only thing the media know how to report. If there was no doom and gloom the news would be like this

It's the Rat Race that everyone is caught up in that causes a lot of problems.

People working harder to buy bigger houses, faster cars, designer clothing and all the other ****. Children demanding laptops, fancy shoes and the latest iphones. All this usually means mountains of debt, no wonder people are miserable.

These days I have no mortgage, zero debt and no credit cards. I feel totally different....feel kinda free actually.
