Hello

I'm looking at buying a car from a private seller and was hoping someone could recomend a good vehicle inspection agency (Cambridge, UK). The car is a 2007 Golf GT TDI 140 Sport.

So far I've found the following

AA Full £195
AA Basic £156
RAC Basic £132 with member discount
RAC Full £175 with member discount
Dekra Basic £120
Dekra Full £159

Does anyone have any recomendations or comments on the above services?

Thanks

Kosch

See if you can find a VW specialist to do an inspection, if not any of the ones you found, they are all the same anyway.

if you're going to spend hundreads of £s getting it inspected just buy from a VW dealer and get a 1 year warranty. Anything wrong and you just take it back.

Is it worth it on a car that new and that ordinary?

Spose it could have had a right good smack somewhere shortly followed by a less than diligent repair.....

There's horses for courses if an inspection makes you feel better its worth the money, if it dont its not.

Hi

Thanks for the interesting replies :) Its got until the end of July for the manufacturers warranty.

Paying 11k for it with 23k miles and a few nifty optional extras plus a years tax and MOT.

Yes that is a shame but it seems all the the 170 models around the Cambridge (40 mile radius) are quite a bit more expensive and with a higher mileage too.

Perhaps travel a bit further then? An extra £40 on petrol for a car further away seems worth it when your spending £11k
