Been a member of 192.com for many years but rarely used them: I wanted to search for someone today but had to buy credits for £41.

Did the search but could not access the address as it is on a census within the archives and to access them, costs £149.99 so I can't get what I need and would like a refund ...... do you think that it comes under the distance selling regs? ie 7 day cooling off? or have I dropped yet another clanger? :(

I've emailed for a refund but not received a reply yet.

Sorry, was browsing on my phone last night and it was a bit early in the morning! You are correct, what was the small print stated when purchasing the credits?

you must give consumers clear information including details of the goods or services offered, delivery arrangements and payment, the supplier's details and the consumer's cancellation right before they buy (known as prior information)

Just a quick one from http://www.oft.gov.uk/about-the-oft/legal-powers/legal/distance-selling-regulations

Thing is, what you are buying is credits to use the facilities of the search, you are not buying the information you require to a prior agreement. Thats the way I see it anyway. Though happy to be proven wrong!
