Facebook - Moat is a hero

Who gives a rat's arse about these police hating scum? They are more than likely criminals in some shape or form that hold grudges against the police for reasons that they are scum.

How this got on the news today I don't know, ignore is the key word.

A significant portion will have joined as a form of dark humour/banter - in the same way groups of lads might joke about rape - 'surprise sex' etc.. it doesn't mean they actually condone rape. I wouldn't be surprised if the group itself was formed as a joke.

Another portion will have joined simply because you have to in order to express moral outrage/troll on the groups wall and/or generally **** off the small minority of police hating geordie chavs who genuinely 'like' the group.

He certainly is not a hero, but I don't think it is an outrage to extend a sympathetic thought for the man.

'Society' lets a lot of people down in many ways. No excuse for his actions, but I don't think anyone really sets out in life to go that way.

Spot on.

Yes, he was a callous murderer, but he might not have been had he been given/accepted help or even if the police had acted with haste when they received the warning that he may intend to cause serious harm to his ex-partner.

It's all very well to ride around on almighty moral horses after this has happened, but them's the facts. The police were warned that he might cause harm by the prison on the Friday after he was released and did nothing.

I wouldn't call this a major concern when (I bet) that a higher percentage of facebook users cannot even discern the difference between left and right.

The fanpage means nothing. There will be similarly large groups of supporters for any outlandish individual... In this case, they have clicked the "Join" button allowing us to see them as a herd, where they may more commonly be dotted around the map fairly evenly (Hotspots of ignorance do, however, seem to find their way toward Swindon)

HAHA great piece in that article

see below

While in some eyes, that created a kind of twisted glory – "enuff respect my man . . . your da best soldier 2ever cum outa da north" – criminologist David Wilson's glib and patronising assessment, to Sky News, that Moat had tapped into "that dispossessed, white working-class, masculine mentality" and become a "kind of anti-hero" might also have a kernel of truth in it.

Yeah, because "white working-class" people "talk laaaarrk dat innit yo"

I was playing Counter Strike: Source the other day, and a guy joined the server called Raoul Moat, and had changed their avatar to a picture of his face.

I actually found it quite strange being killed by Raoul Moat in a video game.

I think we must have been on the same server. Was he using a shotgun only?

I think that's really funny :)

I used to play Dark Age of Camelot on the US servers. A lad in my Guild from Stockton-on-Tees created an Infiltrator who he named 'Washington Sniper'. The QQ from the Americans was hilarious :)

The group is mainly to troll. How stupid are you people?
The real issue is who does Cameron think he is trying to get the group closed. Facist Tory ****

although i totaly think he was very very bad for doing what he did, i also think that the poeple who are supporting him for what ever reason have a right to, and facebook have done the right thing not to delete the page.
freedom of speech, even though its wrong.

The creater of the page pulled it. ( dont think its been deleted outright as she said she can restore it)

Do you think she has come under any pressure to withdraw the page? If so, what kind of pressure?
