Talk to me about the Mk1 Audi TT

Went to see a 225 cab today at a main (VW) dealer and was in fairly good condition, 1 owner, hard top, baseball leather, etc.
Engine management light was on and literally had no boost, I presume it was in limp mode?

The guy said that he thought it felt a bit slow as his chipped 1.9 Leon felt faster
He said they'd fix it for no extra cost, but I dunno if it's worth the hassle.
Not really worth the trouble though, is it?

He seemed surprised that I didn't buy it there and then! How could I test it properly in that condition

Its a good thing to haggle on I guess. Make sure it's fixed and get a warranty stating the problem. Most people will walk away. I’d say make sure it’s fixed (not just deleted) and get a good price.

Things can be broken or any used car, the only difference is you know about this issue and can get it fixed.

Yeah I guess. He did say it'd be fixed and it'd have a 1 year warranty.
The thing with the EML though is that it could be anything, couldn't it?

It'll make a good buy for someone I'm sure, but I'm not going to buy it as I'd have to pay £2000 to tax it, so no thanks.
I just went to have a nosey as I'm thinking of importing one from the UK to sell on.

It's also got some rather deep scratches and the rear bumper/wheel arch would need respraying.. And it's an iffy green colour :p

Did it have anything going for it ;)

Except it's pretty easy to clear faults on a car from the ECU especially if it's an intermittent problem.

It's very competitively priced, especially from a main dealer. They sold it to the owner and they've serviced it from new. And it had a hard top, which is probably quite rare and expensive.

Would clearing the fault open the engine up though?
This clearly had no power at all.
