Bloke in the video seems to be epitomising my point about confusing Islam with Al Qaeda and other fanatic religious groups. He sounds very much like an enlightened ignoramus, decrying the evils of Islam, touting it as a religion of hate, war and violence. Seems to be forgetting that Islam, Judaism and Christianity (specifically the old testament) are all based on near enough the same damn book, and following the bible to the letter would see an awful lot of 'massacring the unbelievers'. Does he, like so many anti-Islam speakers, believe Islamic protests and rallies supporting violence against non-Muslim nations are any better than Christians picketing the funerals of soldiers, claiming the war dead are victims of God's wrath against America's acceptance of homosexuals? how is 'Behead the Infidels' more offensive to you than 'God hates Fags'? Is it because you're an 'infide;l', but you're not a 'fag'? Questions there directed at youtube hero and supporters, not any specific board members here.
Also, I'd question his arguement about conquered lands having mosques built on them. Isn't this exactly what happened when the Crusades invaded the Middle East and Africa? How about when the Spanish decimated the population of South America and destroyed the culture of an entire civilisation in an effort to elighten them as to the 'true faith'? This is not an arguement that other people should be allowed to do the same, to get it out of their systems, I only seek to highlight the aforementioned pervading ignorance so common to soapbox heroes, and indicate too that a little education does not make you infallible.
Believe me, I'm victim enough on that last point.
