New car needed.. maybe a 182?

Hey guys

After the scirocco thread i thought i would get some opinions on what car i plan to get next.. i had a 1.2 clio expression that got written off a month or so ago.

I have been paid out for the car and for personal injury and have found myself with about 4k to spend, and i could possibly borrow some more as i have finished uni and have a bit of an income now.

I have always fancied a 182, in fact i went to an auction the other day and if i hadnt of been late i think i might have found myself purchasing one.

It was however a silver one, and i think i would prefer a better colour such as the flame orange, black/gold and maybe even the light blue.

If i borrowed the same again however i would almost be into decent 197 territory which also appeals to me, as well as really low mileage 182's and clio trophys.

The one spanner in the works, well two, is the insurance, and also if i got myself a diesel.. a golf of some description? i could get some free diesel on the company now and then.. this is not going to happen with petrol, much harder to justify, would it be as much fun though? am i just going to regret not getting what i wanted later on.
 
Dont buy a diesel for the sake of the odd bit of free fuel.

Get the car you like :)
 
Get a 182 or a Trophy, I don't think the 197 is as good tbh despite the extra power. You can get a very tidy 182 for £5-6k with low mileage, or working your way up from £6k is into Trophy territory.
 
Had a 182 for 3years and still love it. Can be had cheap these days, just make sure you get one thats been looked after

Everyone always slags off french cars but Iv not had one problem with mine

I do quite fancy a trophy i must admit, i bought some trophy alloys for my 1.2.. they subsequantly got curbed quite badly in the accident though and are sat in my garage, if i got a 182 i fancied getting them reconditioned a different colour.

I'm currently looking for one, unfortunately just now there is none for sale around here. In fact the nearest one is 100 miles away!

Looking around clio sport the start off at £5~k and 9/10 drop there prices closer to £4k. So they don't seem to be selling too great just now. Saying that there ain't a great deal for sale too.

By looking around there ain't too much to look out for when buying. The only thing that really concerns me is how many owners, the seller and what modifications have been done.
 
I think a lot of people have stopped selling on Cliosport because they're not getting the prices that they expect - other members seem to take no interest until the prices are slashed. Therefore it's a great time for buying!

Also if you get one that's done over 35,000 then make sure it's had both belts done.

I've noticed this, and hoping to take advantage of it within the next few months.

A decent 03/04 FF, with 40-50k can be got for £4500ish just now. Just waiting on the right one.
 
BennyC on here just picked up a 182 with both cup packs with 54,000 for just over £4000. Has a few dings/things to work on and probably could've got it for bang on £4k.
 
Thats a good price, the one at auction i saw, was silver, 05 plate, 50k ish miles on, no tax or mot i must add, both cup packs, and fetched 3.5k + auctioneers fees.

Insurance isnt looking too hot tho, isnt it rubbish that you have to put accidents down even if they wernt your fault, seems to be affecting the price as well

Well i have gone from a 182 to a 197, and now i have seen a Megane 225 Team F1 (ultra blue) that i am liking the look of..

The Megane 225 (06) plate has 30k miles, mint interior, 1 previous owner, they want £8995 for it.

There is also a megane 225 in red with 30k (07), and a albi blue 197 with 20k (56) at an auction tommorow which i might go too.

All 3 are more than i was thinking of spending, but i have applied and got accepted to borrow 5k at 8.8% over 3 years so am thinking it would not be too bad.

The megane 225 felt really fast i must say, as fast as the 370z my mum recently purchased, as well as been a bigger and perhaps more practical car?

I have yet to drive a 197 at all to see what its like
