must admit am confused as to why they dress up as FBI if they break in? what's the point? if you are going to impersonate FBI wouldn't you just ring the door bell rather than arouse suspicion by using a crowbar on the door?

Because there has been recent cases where homeowners have been prosecuted for firing at police who have entered without warning under 'no knock' warrants.

No, I said that people had been prosecuted for shooting officers involved in no knock warrants. The homeowners who did so are now in prison. In effect the combination of no knock warrants and prosecutions has made entering in uniform a much better option than entering without it for criminals.
