RAM Marketing or Performance question

Why do so many RAM manufacturers say that their ram "has been optimized for i5/i7 systems", is this an actual fact? Will this RAM underperform on an AMD motherboard?

Or is it simply a marketing statement?

Either way, it seems pretty far for AMD as I think lots of people can be deterred from buying RAM because of it.

It means it runs at less than 1.65v which is the max the memory controller on the current intel CPUs can take. It should work fine on an AMD board.

Not to hijack the thread or anything but...

It used to be thought that the max voltage was 1.65 but the actual safe voltage according to the latest intel specs is 1.8, at least for socket 1156 chips.

Hasn't half helped stabilising my overclock not worrying about running it at 1.7 now.

Indeed, PCH/PLL also got a bump IIRC.

In some cases, there have been kits that will not hit the same spex on both platforms. Of course, some of the information is marketing driven but there is a practical side to it.
