Ok so we escape earth in favour for another planet somewhere, but what are the chances that that planet is totally safe.

Because we have about 50 years (being optimistic) before we're out of oil.
Once we're out of oil we have no means to advance technologically, because our infrastructure is completely dependent on being able to burn the stuff.
We'll be stuck in a dark age indefinitely. That is assuming we've not all killed each other before we run out.
