VM are updating the firmware of the 50Mb modem as from today.

"The 10.12 Firmware update is intended to relieve the following issues:

1. Cable Modem locks up when multi threaded downloads are used.
2. Cable Modem locks up when Newsgroup clients are used to download data.
3. Cable Modem logs show T3 time outs.
4. Cable Modem logs show TEK Invalid keys."

I've still got firmware .1011 I may reboot it later as it does lock up for a few seconds whilst newsgroups are in use.

I have had no slowdowns or lock-ups using newsgroups(virginmedia) so far ;)
Getting 6.1MB a sec all the time. I just hope it stays like this.

cleared my log and within 2 mins i get:

Critical (3) No Ranging Response received -

I'm still getting T3s too, though only 2 of them. Others have said the same, though those with issues downloading before (Usenet) seem to be saying the problems are cured. I've always had 50.5 megs rock solid, so I can't comment. I'm on the new fw too and all seems good so far.

I rebooted the modem earlier, tried a newsgroup and got 4MB down and no locking up of the modem :D

4MB/sec? I get 6.32MB/sec all the time from Usenet. Are you using enough connections in your reader? Who's your provider? :)

BTW I noticed my upload is crippled today. I can only manage 90KB/sec upstream whereas before the upgrade I got 205 to 210KB/sec constantly. Maybe coincidence, but maybe not... :( I've had no lock-ups, and no T3 timeouts since the firmware upgrade though.

Looks like I got mine on the 15th at about 23:45.

Logs are free of T3s since then - not that I used to get many or many slow downs
