In ten easy steps:
1) Jesus was born jewish
2) Voice in the wilderness (John the Baptist) popped up
3) Jesus then popped up and gained followers
4) Jesus started getting on the nerves of the religious Jewish authority. They were threatened by the words he spoke and saw their authority over the people crumbling. Often with direct confrontation with Jesus.
5) After getting ***** off so much, they eventually decided to charge him. One of the head jews of the temple got in friendly with Judas (one of christs disciples.) They persuaded him with a few silver coins to give them christs location. He did so believing he would be given a fair trial.
6) The temple guards arrested him at night and gave him a pathetic "trial" were they coerced him into proclaiming himself "God" - which was a crime punishable by death.
7) They presented him to the law of the time, which was the romans and demanded his execution. The romans instead beat the utter **** out of him, believing this was instead a more fitting punishment than execution.
8) Pilate who was the head of the roman occupation of Jerusalem at the time, was already under pressure from a growing unrest with the locals in the city and questioned jesus. He thought he was basically a bit strange but saw no reason why he should be put to death.
9) Pilate presented a bloodied and beaten christ to the crowd, thinking it would satisfy their bloodlust. At the time it was a custom to release a prisoner (I forget exactly what for now) and so he presented to the crowd (riled up by the jews) a choice between Barabbas - a violent crazed murderer. Or bloodied and beaten Jesus christ.
10) They chose to free Barabbas. Pilate was forced to grant christ's execution by crucifixion.
The end.
