I recently did a HSF upgrade from the Arctic Cooling Pro 7 (Rev 1) to a noctua NH-D15 monster HSF.
As you can see from my sig, I have a Cooler Master Storm Scout case.
Firstly, here's my old setup with the AC Pro 7:

First stage of the unboxing:
The box is well designed in order to protect the HSF. The first inner box has 2 halves protecting an second inner box. Here's the HSF with the inner box opened:
And another angle showing the protective cover over the contact plate:
Here's the whole package contents. You get the HSF, Backplate, Socket brackets for Intel and AMD, a nicely presented instructions wallet, a very hany long handle screwdriver to secure the HSF to the brackets and bag containing power connector adapters, Noctua TIM, screws and a very nice enamel badge to stick to you case (if your into that):
First step was to unpack the brackets I needed and read the instructions for the Intel install:
Then, I removed the Trusty war horse from the last 2 years, the AC Pro 7. Here's the 2 HSF's side by side:
The instructions tell you to remove the 2 fans to fit the heatsink:
The Noctua Heatsink bare:
The CM Storm Scout is handy, as the back of the motherboard mounting area has a cut out for the rear mounting bracket:
Here's the brackets fitted on the socket side and the CPU cleaned up:
Now for a quick test fit of the heatsing in the case. I was glad there were no issues from the northbridge HS and the RAM. But one issue did surface, the factory fitted 140mm exhuast fan at the top of the case was impeding correct fitment:
This fan had to be removed:
In preparation for the next stage, here's the contents of the accessories bag:
I used the Noctua TIM and fitted the HS as per the instructions:
Then the fans were fitted back on and the power connectors to run both fans were plugged into the supplied cable adapter so both fans connected to the CPU fan header on the motherboard:
Here is it all in situ on first power up:
Overall, a pretty simple install if you follow the instructions. I must say that the whole package and product are simply fantastic. Well worth the money if you can fit this in your setup. hope this guide helps other thinking of fitting one of these amazing coolers.
