Ok, so just last weekend i repainted one of the bedrooms, put some new curtains and blinds up blah blah. And since then ive noticed a lot of wasps getting into the bedroom (i put it down to the window always been open and the smell of paint maybe attracting them in).

Anyway yesterday i closed the window, and its been closed still, i shut the doors always so anything left in cant get out, and anything out cant get in - WRONG :o

I discovered the slightest of gap where the wallpaper meets the window frame edge (when i was looking for possible places the wasps might be getting in). So i thought for the time being, get out the duck tape and tape the gaps up, as i put the first bit of tape on BUZZ i could see a giant wasps legs creeping out ever so slightly. So i used a screwdriver to flatten the tape down securely. THEN i see another set of wasp legs trying to crawl out and some antennas from another trying to feel there way out. I can stand right next to the wallpaper now and the wallpaper is buzzing, literally buzzzz :p

There has to be a wasp nest in the attic or outside somewhere, either way they are not getting out whilst the duck tape is on :D

So, anyone had a similar situation with things in unexpected places?

That's pretty scary! So there's a load of wasps living between the plaster board and the wall? Rather your house than mine!

I remember my uncle used to live on a farm, and he once told me he awoke one morning to be greeted with the appearance of absolutely loads of wasps all over the ceiling of his bedroom. Must've thought it was a nightmare!

no but if i look at of my computer rooms window and down to the left i will see atleast one big fat bee each minute often more.

i guess somewhere there is a bees nest in the wall but i never here anything from inside and they dont come in the window so meh.

i'd hate to have a wasps nest inside my house though!what you should do is get some hairspray and one of those straws from a wd40 tin and spray hairspray inside the whole its garunteed to dry hard and stop the buggers moving! which should creat a nice trap just to be certain they wont escape the ducttape

good idea :)

That sounds awful :(

it was when the legs were poking out trying to escape, now the walls are buzzing ahhh :o

Nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I remember staying at my Grandad's farm in India and waking up one morning to see hundreds of angry wasps flying around in his patio area. I actually had to run from one side of the house to the other through the wasps. Didn't get stung though which was lucky. Later, found a wasps nest in a tree nearby and set a fire under the nest. The wasps left.

Yup in a previous property I had endless wasps coming in the kitchen, but couldn't work out where it was from. They were getting inside everything, including the breakfast cereals. There wasn't any obvious holes and a council pest controller said there was no nest in the loft and they were just flying in from outside. Unconvinced I called someone out privately who revealed there was indeed a massive one.

As a side note, only the other day I had a lucky escape with a wasps nest. I was up a ladder on the outside of a house, the fascia was positioned as such you couldn't see under it from down on the ground, but when I was up there a wasp flew into the side of my head, prompting me to brush it aside, only for my hand to brush past the nest. Looking up it was literally just above my head, if I had of gone up one more rung it wouldn't have been a nice situation. Made me jump out my skin, if I hadn't have been so high up I would have jumped off the ladder.

My parents recently had one of the rooms in their house redecorated; when the wallpaper was stripped off, my Mum discovered this drawing of mine... bare in mind that I'm now 28!
