Suggestions with 2.5k to spend

Looking for a few suggestions from you knowledgable chaps if you don't mind.

Got about 2.5k to spend on the car.

Looking for something around 2002-2004 year, 1.4-1.8 engine, will consider up to like 90k miles if known to be reliable, something that looks like a newish car, nothing large so no Vectra's etc.

Looking at Focus/Fiesta/Civic/Pug 307 - anything else that may be worth considering guys?

What sort of driving / distance do you do?

150 miles a week is probably a decent estimate. A couple of 1 hour journeys a week and then getting to work and back which is only 5 miles away. This is excluding trips out at the weekend and random stuff though.

So not a great deal of time spent in the car, but i am looking for another job so this may be extended.

Edit: prob worth mentioning im 25 with 5 years no claims bonus. So no Metros!

I would go for the next size of car up, a Mondeo or something.

There are more decent ones in that size than Focus size for the money you want to spend.

I thought a Focus was bigger than a vectra, both of which aren't really considered 'large' anyway.

I was thinking of a Vectra B. I forgot about the newer shape which is bigger.

I parked my Vectra B beside a Focus today and actually the focus is taller and has a higher waist line, but the overall length was similar.
