Ok, so the other month I built my dad a pc using old parts I had and some stuff off the members market.

The spec was something like this:

Asrock P35 chip mobo
Corsair value select 2x2gb ddr2 ram
Western digital 7200rpm drive
E5200 dual core cpu
9800gtx gpu
Dark power pro modular power supply 550watt

Now, I am trying to downsize and at the moment I have a 850 watt HUGE antec power supply that only fits in certain antec cases (like my 1200). What I want to do is use the Dark power pro from my dads system and buy a cheaper power supply for his.

Basically could I trust one of these OCUK swift power supplies to not explode and kill my dads kit? I realise the 9800gtx is power hungry and total overkill for what my dad needs, it was just the only thing I had lying around. Perhaps I would need to sell the 9800 and get a more suitable card on MM?

Also do you think 550 watt would be shaving it too close with my rig below (in my sig)? I put it into a psu calculator and got a minimum of 500watt and a recommended of 549watt D:

Sorry, I know the rig in the post doesn't need 550 watt but I ment "the rig below", as in my sig, which I will be stealing the 550 watt psu for.

Ok, well I think I might sell the 9800gtx, get something cheap and low power instead and risk one of the swifts!

£17 for 550w? if it sounds to good to be true, it must be.

Haha, I know and I would never dream on running a high end system on one but this thing is literally only used for word, web browsing and solitaire. Plus I trust OC some what not to provide total trash. Having said that they have a 750 watt version and I can't imagine they them selves would ever dream of running anything that required 750 watts off a £28.99 psu.

I would'nt touch one of these new psu's with a bargepole. Do not skimp on the most important component in a pc. Always buy a quality branded one.

Your rig is similar to mine and max power draw at the wall is 274w for mine.
