Did anyone have a paper round?

Delivered the local free paper for a short while, 600 houses for about eight quid a week. Soon decided that the papers could be delivered to the local recycling place and I continued getting paid to recycle them for two years :D.

yeah for £9 a wk when i was 14. one day i found a leather wallet at the side of the road 'no money in it' lol and i still use it today nearly 20 yrs on.

Yep I delivered papers to bout 20 houses. I didn't work for a newsagent so i had to collect the money and pay distribution directly. I was independant that way meaning my wage depended entirely on the tips I got on top of the cost of papers. Each paper costs 40p iirc and i got 9p per paper + tips. It was £7 from the papers + tips and it usually worked out around £15-£20.

when i was 14-15yr i had one , for my local area ( cant remember) how many customers i had though £12 per week , and about £80 - £100 on xmas tips :)

I'm still a teen so yes :p

7 days a week - my round has shrunk so only 17 papers on weekend and 12ish on weekdays. Any paper the people need. £22.50 a week.

Doing 3 rounds as its summer and people are away and a few other things like on Saturday and Sunday at 5:30am I'll put the inserts in all of the newspapers (every paper the shop will sell/deliver that day. That's £5 each day - 50mins each day
And as the owner is going away for a week he wants me to do my rounds then go back to the shop and hang around to make sure everyone turns up, if they don't I'll do that round, £5 a day for that for a week lol

I did a paper round for a few years , I used to like meeting up with a mate of mine who worked for another shop and going for a few ciggies.

Strangest thing that happened to me was when an elderly lady gave me a tip then asked if I could help her with something, I went into her front room expecting to move some furniture or something but she asked me if I would remove her boots from her feet as they had got tight , I reluctantly obliged , there was a bit of a whiff down there tbh :o

Used to do the morning papers to around 20 houses used to get about £6-7 when i was 13-15 remember the sunday round was an absolute killer with the weight of the bag. My round was one of the worst in the shop as it covered the whole of the estate and a dodgy block of flats.

Only thing I remember about it to this day was one winter 6.30 in the morning a dog came from nowhere and flew at me and I ended up pinned against a hedge with my bike in front of me,whilst this thing was going for me. Then the ***** of an owner just wandered round the corner and said oh he won't bite no ****

Used to deliver a free paper from about 14-17. Had to put the leaflets in (could do this on the round however), delivered to about 200 houses. Used to get between £7 and about £20 at the very most a week, though probably averaged around £15. I could just drop a pile of 50 at a complex for OAPs which made life much easier.

I paid for my 'Atari ST' with paper round money, was very hard work though getting up @ 6am every weekday, got around £7 a week and took about 45mins, weekends were a killer due to the size of the papers, slave labour really when I look back on it but at least I was earning some money, I never got an allowance from the parents.

You lot don't know you were born.
I had to deliver to every street within the red border and I had to go back to the shop to get another bag.
I did this every morning & evening for £1.80 a week.
On sunday mornings after I'd finished my round I then had to go and collect the money (this was around 1972 to 74).
What's funny is my Dad thought my paper round was easy compared to the one he had when he was a lad back around 1948.

£1 a day for the local paper every weekday evening and a saturday dinnertime. probably the easiest round the shop . took about 15minutes

did a sunday round which i got about £4 for but was never worth it. worst round in the shop. 2 trolleys full of big papers to the posh estate at the top of a big hill :(

Im 15 and do a paper round, it's a bit of a pain but it's not too bad, I have to deliver about 150 free papers, have to put in leaflets aswell and a property paper, every Thursday, have to deliver to 3 roads and have to deliver to sheltered accomodation for elderly people, absolutely hate doing that bit, get moaned at every week because I can't deliver to the upstairs flats, you need a key fob to open the door to get upstairs so if by request from people living there I leave them by the entrance door downstairs for them to collect, I do that and then next week get moaned at by someone else for them blowing around everywhere, I can't win eather way :(

Getting a saturday job hopefully...

Use to deliver the Why magazine every Thursday after school for £5 a week, it was in my mum's name as it was before I was 13, must have been late 90s. Did a proper paper round at 13 and got paid £10 a week (started in 1999 iirc). As the week went on the papers got heavier and heavier. Use to dread Sundays as I had to make two trips. Monday's were 'amazing'. Also use to hand out xmas cards as well during the period. Use to get loads of money and chocolate/sweets left for us.
