I bid a good evening to all those on OCUK with crap eyesight.

I have not been on a package holiday for about 5 years.
In 2 weeks I will be in Egypt and my eyes have got a lot more short sighted over the last few years.

Now I go swimming at home in a pool and just about cope without my contacts in. I don't want to be on a beach or in the sea (or any situation where I have no glasses or contacts) and be able to see jack ****.

Do I buy prescriptive goggles?
Do I just get normal goggles and keep my contacts in?
Can I go snorkeling in the sea with a snorkel mask with goggles underneath?
Any other ideas that I have not thought about?

Thanks:).

EDIT: As much as I would like to have laser eye surgery, my eyes are very very slowly getting worse all the time and I don't have £2500 to blow either:p.

You can get diving/snorkelling masks with prescription lenses, you can't wear goggles underneath lol

some people find they can get away with wearing a standard diving mask as it makes their eyesight a little better

What sort of lenses do you wear? I wear dailies and can't swim in them at all, they're straight out at the first sight of me even opening my eye a crack under water or when coming out of water.

I gather long term ones are vastly better and you can happily and safely swim and so on in them.

Yeah or just make sure you shut your eyes under the water if you are just swimming. I wear monthly disposables and never had a problem in water with them.

If I am swimming then I use prescription goggles as I would look faintly silly in a scuba mask. If snorkelling then I wear my daily's as I find a mask is a water tight fit.

I know a few people that scuba dive that wear their contacts under their mask. You can always get masks with prescription lenses.
