it's a Coolermaster iGreenpower 600watt power supply i got last year, it says it's sli certified on the box and apparently has 3 465watt 12v rails. (i'm not up on psus, i just buy em and hope they work) this is just what it says on the box.

i want it to power:

an asus p6x58d-e mobo
i7 920
corsair xms - 3x2gb sticks
powercolor 5870 950mhz gfx
6 hard disks
two cold cathode tubes
one heatsin fan
four case fans
one usb powered LCD display screen
and
an optical drive.

any feedback appreciated.
additionally, there will be some mild overclocking & i might want to crossfire another of the gfx cards at some point.

i have another psu, a hiper type-r 730watt modular psu, but i used it nonstop for 2 years and have lost a few of the modules.

The pc you want to power will be fine with a 600w but i dont think it will be fine if you wanted to crossfire.....And do not use that Hiper type-r i believe they have a high rate of blowing up!!

your the second person who told me the hiper might blow up in 2 years, do you have a source on this? it ran nicely for me since 2007.

There were a few people on the forums who's Hiper PSU's blew up.

A mate of mine on the otherhand has ran his rig off one for the past 5 years and it's still going stong.

It's luck of the draw and that's something you don't want from a PSU ^^

Woo Hipers! I have one running for 4(?) years strong now :D
To answer the original post. Yes the 600W is good for a single card. If you crossfire then you'll need a bit more juice.
