Well, after my thread about something to replace my 530d which i didnt have long, I knew the sensible thing to do was keep it longer... however...

I seen this and bought it insead:

Its an Audi A8 4.0tdi with 60k on the clock.

Quite happy with it, its pretty well kitted out and the twin turbo diesel is nice enough.

Might sound odd, but having a TV is the best benefit... sitting in traffic yesterday was great. Has nav, leatheer, full electrics, even the seatbelt positions are memory... quite nice. Its huge in the back too, so the folks are happy with me driving them about now.

Drove 200 miles yesterday in it and was a pleasure.. returning 38mpg which is more than I expected. I know I could have got a 4.2 petrol for similar money, but I do like diesels and the resale 'should' be a bit better than the petrols.

Only things I need to do are look at cleaning the wheels better (diamond finish im told, whatever that actually means). I need to look into a bluetooth option for it too... it has a phone button but doesnt seem to have bt.

Doesnt feel quick at all, but it is.. very strange. The 530d felt much quicker, but when you look at the speedo you realise its going well. Not as much fun obviously as the 530d and its massive.

Overall, its what I expected, but more of it. I knew it would be comfy and refined, its just more than I thought. Tons of random buttons hidden about that I keep finding, the owners manual is on dvd on the screen so its not the easiest thing to read.

Lets hope it doesnt blow up

Bet it feels amazingly refined after the 5-series, nice car, just my sort of thing. Really like these :) I personally would have opted for the petrol, but thats just me.

That's really nice. I'd be more inclined to buy an S Class, but then that's just me. I'm sure it's a fantastic car and I'm sure it has ample amount of space in which you can fit a jumbo jet in the passenger seat. :)

I quite like these but much much prefer the older version (S8 I think) in that Robert DeNiro film Ronin. All you're lacking is a chauffeurs hat for when you're running the folks around ;)

Nice one, enjoy that.

I would always have a Jag an S class or a 7 Series in front of one of these though, dont know why because they drive well.

If you are looking for a Bluetooth kit look into the Fiscon one which replicates the factory system so the phone button will work and can be accessed via the MFSW/MMI with the details coming up on the MMI screen or the instrument cluster.

My dad was looking at these last week, almost sold on one...

Then turns up the next day in a new Saab 93 convertible... :S

Nice cars though :)

Looks... nice...? Didn't you have a s60 r not so long back? you working your way through every saloon on the market? :P

Nice one, will investigate :)

Yup, I did, but ended up sending it back when it appeared it didnt have full SH (really needed for the R). Was a great car though, a bit of a performance bargain.

That is one gorgeous interior! the newer ones have Bang & Olufsen stereos (a £6,000 option) with tweetrs that pop out of the dashboard!

Yours doesn't have the Bose sound upgrade like mine I see?

the bang and olufsen package is very nice, but @ the original cost option as previously mentioned was a joke.

It has Bose yes, not sure if its an 'upgrade' or not, but its a Bose system...

As for the keys, haha, aye, I have quite a few things on the ring, usb/tool things/led lenser etc :)
