Mental Health Related Films

Guys! I've got a huge list to go through now!

Depression / breakdown related films are high priority. Recommendations? I found Prozac Nation quite interesting but not very good.

i thought twelves monkeys was excellent - also, if you can find a copy its worth watching the film it was based on "la jetee".

also, rachel getting married relates losely to the op

I'm surprised no one has mentioned 'I Am Sam' yet.

One of my favorite films, its got Sean Penn (I think he got an Oscar for it too), Dakota Fanning and Michelle Pfifer(?)
(also the bird out of Jurassic Park but she's not in it that much)

Its an excellent film in my mind, manages to be very serious and quit funny at the same time.

As others have said, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

The book is also well worth a read, although they haven't changed the story the book brings an element that the film can't. The telling of the story is different in the book (sorry if that's vague, but I'm trying to be spoiler free).

I also really enjoyed K-Pax. Another film that might be worth a look (and I haven't seen it for years) is Benny and Joon.

"The Pledge" - a fabulous film starring Jack Nicholson, also great performance from Benicio Del Toro and a brilliant cameo from Mickey Rourke. Directed by Sean Penn.

K-Pax? One of my favorite films.

K-Pax is brilliant.

Watching k-pax now. Brilliant film. Kevin spacey once again an amazing performance

How dare you all mention K Pax, that's supposed to be my 'unknown' film. :p

Love it, zz..

Another for K PAX. Still not sure what to think of the ending!

Agreed, spectacular performance and on the topic of this, with the same actor, I suggest to watch the film aptly titled "Shrink". I don't believe it delves too much into mental health, like kpax, but is oreinted around it, sort of.
