I've got a 5970 at the moment and have nothing but problems with ATI and its drivers.

I was set on getting 2 x GTX470's but now see the 460's are out which are cheaper, cooler and clock really well.

My question is will 2 x GTX460's be good enough to play BFBC2 @ 5760x1080 maxed without any drops below 60fps?

Is there no way of fixing the driver problems? GTX 460 SLI is quite a downgrade from a 5970, and even SLI GTX470s will only be on par with it. Which driver set are you using?

Ive tried all of them right back to 10.2 either they wont install or i get 2d crashes or 3d crashes. I've lost confidence in ATI tbh so its going to be NVidia but its a matter of what. (if i reimage my NVidia GTX275 Win7 installation back in it runs perfectly)

Do we know whether they will be releasing a higher end solution based on the GF104 anytime soon?

I dont want to go GF100 and then find next month they release something of similar performance to the 470/480 with less heat and power consumption.

Did you move from Nvidia to ATI ? A lot of people seem to have major headaches from the Nvidia driver remnants.

Most find the ATI driver problem is actually down to Nvidia.

i have a 1000w psu so no worries there

completely fresh install of win7

tried everything at stock.

had a 5870 and a different brand 5970 although different problems, problems none the less

Your gonna want all the VRAM and performance you can get at that res imo. GTX470 in SLI minimum IMO if you want it to be completely smooth.

I thought it might be asking a bit much out of them but I thought id get some opinions on them first.

I might stick with my 275 for another month or two until the market calms down after the recent GF104 release and then re-evaluate.
