i bought an ati 4650 gfx card 512mb and my freind has the same but in a diffrent make i dont understand why his out performs mine he has 3gb ram and dual core mine is quad core with 3gb ram , im stumped :/

His might be overclocked. Also, are you testing using the same game/settings?

yes around medium settings and he runs around 10-15 fps faster than mine and i dont think it is overclocked

Remember, most games only use 2 cores. His CPU might be clocked faster?

It depends on which CPUs you are comparing and with what games.

For example, E8400 stock speed 3.0GHz will outperform Q6600 stock speed 2.4GHz in single/dual threaded games (usings only one or two cores).

its a 4650, surely you didnt spend that much money on it in the first place?

Is there not a couple of different versions of the 4650, a slower GDDR2 version and a quicker GDDR3 version?

As James.Miller mentioned though, you can't be expecting too much out of a pretty low end card. If you're after pretty visuals you need to get your wallet out

Both the XFX and the Sapphire are GDDR2.

Sapphire do (did) a GDDR3 version as well, check it out

I have a sapphire 4670 with gddr3 just havent got around to fitting it in the kids pc yet.
