Surround sound headphones

I don't want to annoy my housemates but films just aren't the same with low volume.
Can't you use stereo headphones with something that will output with Dolby Headphone? Much better than surround ones!
Dolby Headphone is great when watching films. 
Would need a sound card though, unless your motherboard has DH. Some do, what motherboard do you have?
What makes surround sound, or 5.1 as they are marketed, headphones, so appealing is, one doesn't need a sound card, like one would need with DH or CMSS 3D. Assuming the motherboard doesn't have DH that is. From my point of view, that's the only appealing thing about them. Give me DH + decent stereo headphones anyday of the week when watching films.

These are very good and have an external box that take 2x OPTICAL input.
I got mine on ebay recently for a song but these can cost around £180 new and were only available in the Japan market but have often been exported.
These were specifically designed for PS3 games and Blu Ray in mind.
Their is a new MDR-DS7100 model now, search and you will find it for sale.
The unit has DTS Dolby Digital and DPL IIX support and allows a stereo, Cinema and Game modes in DSP.
They are quite stylish and produce a much better effect for games and movies for instance than my Senn HD600s do running from my AV amp using Yamaha's "Silent Cinema"
Great for music no but yeah they certainly give a bigger soundstage than traditional stereo speakers.
I bought mine as I wanted to get multichannel surround effect headphones but also wireless for my ongoing cockpit project (sig)
